Earl: An App Providing Access to Over 300 Newspapers Through Speech

IN this podcast, Bill introduces us to Earl, a new app for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. He demonstrates how you can have Earl read to you from nearly 300 newspapers worldwide by tapping the screen of your device and speaking a few commands, without having to use the screen or VoiceOver gestures beyond double tapping.
Earl is available for $0.99 in the App Store. In aidition to purchasing the app, users must make an in-app purchase to subscribe to this service. There are both a monthly charge of $9.99 or an anual fee of $99.99 option for subscribing.

Changing the Root Password on your Jailbroken iDevice (Mac)

Following on from a previous podcast in which he and Chirag discussed some of the possible consequences of leaving your jailbroken iDevice with its default root password, Musicruz gives us a walk-through of how to change this password on a Mac.

Musicruz and Chirag have created a designated repo that listeners can access to reset their iDevice back to the default password. Simply install the package and it will reset the password back to "alpine".

Activator: The Must Have Jailbreak Tweak

In this podcast, Musicruz gives us an in-depth discussion and demonstration of Activator, a jailbreak tweak which allows for gesture-based controls of almost anything.

If your iDevice is jailbroken, it's likely that you already have Activator installed, even if you don’t realize it. Many other jailbreak tweaks rely on Activator to work, so they install it automatically as a dependency. However, Activator does a lot more than just work with other tweaks, and you can use it to make your life a lot easier. Things you would normally have to do manually on your iDevice can be done with simple gestures using Activator.

Activator is available from Cydia on a jailbroken device.
