Accessibility Comments

It's somewhat usable. Read other comments below.

VoiceOver Performance

VoiceOver reads most page elements.

Button Labeling

Most buttons are clearly labeled.

Usability

Some parts of the app are accessible with VoiceOver, but not enough to make it usable.

Other Comments

When you hit start egg, you have to double tap it three times for it to hatch. Once you give it a name, it says to drag up the ships controls. I am not sure how to do that, so I'm labeling it some some parts being accessible.

To bring up ship's controls, use a 3 finger swipe up. also note that after hatching your alien, buttons will no longer be labeled. So, for the record, here's what the 6 main buttons they are and what they do. The first one lets u feed your alien. Tap it, then continue swiping right till u get some numbers. This is how much fuel a specific food item will consume. Tap on one of these numbers to use a food item. Sadly, food is also not labeled. The second button lets u take care of your alien, tap it then swipe right to get to another set of numbers. Cleaning your alien, cleaning the ship, educating your alien and giving it medicine when it is sick will also cost fuel and that's what these numbers do if u tap on them. The third button lets u play minigames with your alien in order to earn more fuel and increase happiness; only 2 games though in this version of hatchi, and only 1 is accessible. To get to the games, swipe right past the 6 main buttons, then past one more unlabeled button, the one after that leads to a simon says type game. All sound pads r labeled, no time restrictions, it is accessible. The other mini game is a break-out style game where u need to destroy things with a ball. Kinda difficult to play without vision. Back to the buttons: The 4th button is a light switch, u can hear the lights powering on or off when u push this button. careful though, when putting your alien to sleep, it might not want to wake up again for a while, so keep its current status in mind. The fifth button takes u to the alien adoption planet. After clicking it, swipe right past the 6th button and the first unlabeled button on this list, that next one will let u see the available aliens for adoption. Finally, the 6th button will take u to the settings and info like with the other hatchi. Again, more unlabeled buttons here so I'll try to explain: first button here will let u see your database. Second button lets you see your current alien's statistics. Third button lets u check game center progress. Fourth button lets u share your alien via fb or twitter just like in the other one. Fifth button is for the help menu. If u need a refresher on everything that was spoken of here, check it out. U can also send feedback from this section. The last button is for the settings. Everything here is self explanatory. Hope it helps.

Hi, thanks for explaining this. I'm going to have to give this game another try.

You're quite welcome. O there is a section for purchasing fuel too but I can't remember where it is. Will report back when I find it. I raised an alien to adulthood and released it simply because I was running out of fuel and was involved in too many other games lol. Thought this post could use an explanation so I started up another alien for the purpose of explaining these controls.

That first unlabeled button mentioned in the fifth section of the main menu in my previous comment will take you to a shop where you can purchase various food types, buffs for your alien and fuel collector upgrades. Not sure yet whether fuel upgrades will carry over from one alien to another but I have a feeling it does. Got a fuel bonus with my first alien and I think it wasn't reset with this new one. Lastly, the first unlabeled button in the third section where all the games are will take you to a section where you can configure your fuel collection settings and see when your next batch of fuel will come in. I think that covers all of the buttons; Hope it helps. This certainly is a more challenging game compared to the other one, since you now have to keep an eye on how much fuel you consume in addition to taking care of your alien. Only wish more elements were labeled but I think that this app is manageable if you know where things are and how to find them.

This app, in the app store for the united states, is now 0.99 to get it. I just thought I'd let people that it isn't free anymore. I have no idea if it is still free for other countries.

Thanks for the heads up! Will make the correct changes to reflect that this is no longer a FREE app.

Hi. The four food buttons are apple, breat, burger and cake. PS: How to play the memory game? Thanks.

In order to play the memory game, simply repeat the sound paterns that are played. All of the sound pads are labeled and i think the tones are arranged from highest to lowest.

I have labeled all the buttons and I have been playing this game for a while and it is working fine for me. Just cannot see the stats but I don't care, I like my alien.
