Accessibility Comments

This app has some serious accessibility issues for VoiceOver users. However, despite this, it is possible that some might still be able to get something of use from the app.

Much of the information in the app is provided graphically via floorplans. However, the app does provide searchable details of stores and facilities available in a mall, along with their locations.

The app has the ability to give you directions from your current location in the mall to a desired store, food outlets or restroom.  It gives you three routing options:

  1. Fastest
  2. Escalator only
  3. Elevator only

I was not able to test this feature, as the closest mall available in this app is over 100 miles away. Perhaps somebody could test it in their local mall and report back.

Although button labelling is okay, I encountered some problems with getting VoiceOver to move focus to elements on a newly opened page. It would sometimes require some tapping on the screen for VoiceOver to recognize page elements were present. There were also times when VoiceOver would read elements from the previous page.

In its current state, it is likely to take some effort to get anything of real use from this app. This is a great shame, as the app could be of tremendous value to the blind.

VoiceOver Performance

VoiceOver reads most page elements.

Button Labeling

Most buttons are clearly labeled.

Usability

There are some accessibility issues with this app, but it can still be used if you are willing to tolerate these issues and learn how to work around them.

These folks were excellent about being helpful. They added my local mall and made changes to the app when I requested them.Great that it lists all the stores in the mall, I found out about places I did not know about.I have a guidedog that only does elevators so I have not used the "fastest" or "Escalator" route choices. Because I am totally blind I have not used the "Shake for Restrooms" feature either. I have used the "contact this store", and it worked great. The step by step list of directions do use the names of stores to indicate when to go left or right so you may still have to do some confirming things with fellow mall shoppers but this app has really made a huge difference to me. It isn't perfect, but this is what user feedback is all about.
