Feature suggestion: a field for developer's Twitter name when submitting apps

Hi all! So, today I wanted to share a feature suggestion with you all which I think would help quite a lot to spread the word about how an app is doing in the Applevis app directories. Basically, in the form where new apps can be submitted, I think there should be an additional field where the Twitter name of the app developer (if any) can be entered. I think this could be beneficial in the following ways: - Whenever a new app is submitted and a Twitter name has been supplied, the Twitter name could appear in the Tweet that the website sends out. This would increase the chances that the developers will see the announcement, and realize that their app has been tested for accessibility and submitted to Applevis. They could then visit the website, read about any issues or, quite possibly, pad themselves on their shoulders if the submitted app has an 'accessible' rating. Many companies look at their mentions to interact with customers, and I think this could be an easy way to let them know about the accessibility situation of an app. Such a Tweet could then look like this: iOS App Directory entry (category): AppName by @twittername (accessibility status) link - This would provide an easy way to let developers know whenever the accessibility status of an app changes, again by mentioning that person on Twitter. - There could then be a link on the app page in the directory, so that someone looking at the site could easily find the developer's Twitter link and could choose to follow them easily. Those are just some ideas, and I'm sure there some others that I've missed which could be interesting. Hope you guys like the idea! :-) Robin

Robin, Many thanks for your suggestions! We always encourage people to leave suggestions and ways in how we can not only improve our users experience but as in this case how we can give thanks to the developers when an app has been posted and is worth giving them a thanks. From here I will submit this to the AppleVis Editorial Team and see if this is something we can and want to do. So again many thanks for your suggestions! Keep them coming! We love to hear any feedbacks in how to improve AppleVis experience for everyone! :)

Great idea, although yes I think the field should just say "contact details" so that could include email address or twitter name.

A worthy suggestion

I'd concur this be instated in the website. It would possibly open more dialogue amongst developer and user, as it seems from my observations people have an easier time composing tweets over writing a full email. My concern with this being a mention; character limit! Say we have a long application name, accessibility status, links, and a Twitter name taking up the more than 140 allotted characters? This would beg the question of some times needing to shorten the names of entries such as "Fleksy: Happy typing" for example, as it wouldn't all be able to be shown on the timelines of all.

I love the idea

Hi everyone, We really appreciate your suggestions. It certainly is an interesting idea, one that could draw attention to accessibility from developers who may not otherwise know about it. We are currently in the process of looking into how this could be implamented. Best regards, Michael Hansen AppleVis Editorial Team
