A shortcut automation to keep your device constantly in low power mode

By The Oliver Kennett, 1 December, 2019

Hi everyone...

I know battery is often an issue for everyone, but especially those of us who rely heavily on our phones for every day tasks, and I often find myself using the low power mode function introduced in IOS9 to extend my battery life. Considering it doesn't seem to have an effect on performance, for me at least, I thought, why not keep it on all the time.

Of course, those of you who have tried it know that it is automatically disabled when your device has been charged to 80 %. Because I'm lazy I decided to try and find a way to avoid, you know, pressing a button, so instead spent half an hour researching and building a shortcut... Go figure.

I managed to find a guide to produce a shortcut automation to do just this. Rather than rewrite all of it here I've decided to simply include the link.

How to keep low power mode on indefinitely

I hope this is of help. Let me know how you get on and if there is any noticeable increase in your battery life.

PS, moderators, let me know if this is the wrong place to post external guides and I'll rectify it.

That is such an easy hack. Don’t know why I didn’t think of trying that. I set automation... Lets see if I get longer battery today. Thanks for the tip Oliver!!

I just set this up and it was pretty easy.

Hey there,
This is great! Glad we found a solution to this because it's really annoying that it goes away, now I can make it not go away anymore!

# That's really useful

I had no idea you could even do that. That's very nice!
