IOS 16.0.2 and random talking even in sleep mode... Anyone else?

I have reported this to apple accessibility but would like to know if anyone else has the bug where VoiceOver, out of the blue, announces the date... In the middle of the night...

Sleep focus is on and, in theory it should remain silent.

i-phone speaking all punctuations

By Sherlene

I hope I'm in the right area for this question. Whenever voice over speaks, it is speaking all punctuations even when speaking an incoming phone call. I went to where I thought turning this off, but I was wrong. Can someone please help? Thanks in advance.

Best to ask this question as a separate forum post as more people will see it... As it were.

Nope.

Neither of those issues. Try disconnecting any accessories before you go to bed. My braille display, for example, takes about 5 minutes to disconnect after my iphone has been locked and the braille display to be in stand-alone, so if I use it too close before I go to bed the phone will turn on in the middle of the night to tell me it disconnected.

Yes I have.

Hello. I experienced this issue in 16.0.2. VO would announce the time and battery percentage at random while in sleep mode. I thought about disabling VO but that wouldn't solve anything. Now that I updated to 16.0.3 I'll see what happens.

I'm glad to hear you're having the same problem... Well, not glad exactly, it's a pain. someone mentioned it is a buffer issue.

I'm still finding my default voice, Alex, reverts to Siri in IOS 16.0.3. A restart is required to get it back to the original voice. Oddly, these are not bugs I ever experienced whilst running the beta.

I've not experienced the bug.

It's interesting how we all have similar phones but don't all experience the same thing.

It would be annoying but what if you reset your phone completely?

Rarely helps, though thanks for the suggestion.

Shut the case and turn it face-down

This works for notifications. Not sure it will help here but give it a try.

Trouble here is I have it on a MagSafe duo over night to charge along side my Apple Watch. Good idea though.

Still getting the voice resetting. Maybe a full reset is in order, as vexing as that is.

Does it do that off the charger

I used to get that problem where the device would turn on in the middle of the night at 100% unplugging the charger helped. Don't get that anymore. Maybe it's your charger that's the problem, maybe try without it, or with a nonduo charger. I don't know. I hope you can manage to fix it.

Same thing here

My phone just randomly announces the time, my battery status, or reads a notification even when the phone is on do not disturb. I believe this did start with 16.

This started happening to me in iOS 14 but stopped in 15 and now it’s back again in 16.

Update to ios 16.0.3 see if it fix it. If not everyone who is having this problem email Apple.

It seems to be notifications in Notification Centre being voiced when they came in. Still apparent in 16.0.3.

Yes, it does happen on the charger, but off too.

It might well be the notification settings I have set up, EG if I put them all as grouped then there might not be the problem. Fact is, it must not happen.

Random Talking

My iPhone has started waking up whenever my braille display disconnects from my iPad making it turn on. This doesn't happen the other way. Maybe it's an accessory that's taking some time to disconnect
