Braille on Apple Products

Hi,

I've noticed a lot of references to people not knowing certain symbols to use with brail screen input. I suggest we compile a list of them in this thread and then I can put them all together as a quick reference. Who's in?

I'll kick off.. To do an @ sign, such as when inputting your email address:

I'm definitely in.

the one I discovered on my own is the underscore, that being dots 46, followed by dots 36.

I've got mine set to UEB, not that I know UEB, it was introduced after I left school.

I'm use to english UK braille normally.

I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this thread.

I just tested that, I don't think you actually need the second part of it, so just the 4 6 works to add the underscore... Can you confirm this?

I just tested it in an app I use to transfer text to and from the PC and you definitely need dots 36 at the end.

I wonder if braille code does make a difference, in wich case, this list of symbols is going to get confusing.

For example the at symble, the symble used in email addresses is dot 4 followed by dot 1.

Period or full stop in an email

When writing a full stop or period in text without spaces, again, add the dot 4 before the full stop, 256...

I'm guessing that the dot 4 is some sort of modifier?
This isn't really my area! Ha.

Wouldn't these be the same symbols listed for input from a braille display?
If so, any display manual or the voiceover braille commands should work.

Do you have an example?

Hi, do you have a manual you could point us to? I've struggled to find a central resource, if there is one that works out there, maybe we can get it on here as a resource with a table etc for people using the onscreen brail keyboard instead of a brail display with keyboard.
