Author in need! How can I control voiceover flow whilst verbally recording an audio book...

Hi,

I'm about to record an audio book and I have found that the best way is to use voiceover in one ear so I can hear what is going on, put it on slow and then go for it. Really, what I want is to be able to read paragraph by paragraph, Ie I hit a shortcut, it reads a paragraph, I do my thing it stops, I take a breath, and hit the shortcut again. Any suggestions welcome as it would seem the only way to do it is to vo P and then VO page down to the next paragraph which sounds very involved indeed. really I want to control the flow of the dialogue. could I do something with the touch pad? Turn it on so as I have my finger on it it reads and then when I want to stop I release?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

#1 Try using the control key?

Hi,
I think the easiest thing to do would be to set Voiceover to your desired speed, perform a say-all command, (control-option-downarrow), and use control to play/pause the speech. Honestly, if I were in your situation, I would mute speech entirely and read from a braille display, but I think the say-all and control key will be your best bet if you find speech easier. HTH! :)

#2 Thanks, brail reading speed not fast enough

Yeah, think that's going to have to be the way to do it. I've only got a 20 cell display which slows me down and readin out loud at a sufficient rate, well, I have let my brail reading slip. Thanks for the advice.
