Subscription Question

By Misty Dawn, 6 August, 2014

Forum
Other Apple Chat

For some time, I have been receiving e-mail messages that say:
"AppleVis Subscription Alerts, AppleVis Subscription Alert Digets"

In these digests, it appears that I receive not only replies to my comments/forum topics/posts (which I do, in fact, still wish to receive), but also topics/posts completely irrelevant to anything I've commented on/posted. I would like these latter to stop. How do I make it so that I only receive e-mails regarding things *I've* posted/commented on/etc.?

Please give me a thorough step-by-step as I am not the most technically savvy person in the world.

Thanks.

At the top of the page, there is a link that says My Account, assuming you are logged in. Press this link to get to your account page.

Your user name will appear as heading level 1. Right after it you will find a set of tabs. Select the one called Subscriptions.

There is now a second set of tabs after the first. One of the tabs is called Content Types. Select this one.

The page that comes up has a table where you can subscribe to various content types, such as forum posts, blogs, podcasts, app entries, and the like. If you are subscribed to any of these, then your alert emails will contain any new posts of that type.

The check box at the beginning of each row controls whehter or not you will get alerts for posts made of this type. If this box is checked, there will be another check box farther to the right on the table row, which is called On Comments. Selecting this check box will give you alerts for any comments made to existing pages, not just when new pages are created.

If you don't want to get alerts for comments made on existing topics, but you still want alerts for newly created ones, then uncheck the On Comments check box, but leave the main check box on. If you don't want any alerts at all for a particular content type, then uncheck the main check box at the beginning of the row.

The changes you make here will not affect any page-specific subscriptions you have, such as those created for topics you've commented on, or those for which you said follow this post. Those settings are completely separate, and are found under the Pages/Threads tab.

When you're finished, be sure to press the Save button, or else the changes you made will not take effect.
