Podcasts app question and overall podcast general question

Hi, So I downloaded the Apple Podcast app again yesterday, after not using it for awhile, and noticed that you now have to download the podcast versese just streaming it to the phone. I thought at one time, you could stream them instead of downloading them, was I wrong here? Is there an app like Podcast that gives you the option to stream them, and download them also, but has the same amount of content? Also, when you subscribe to a certain podcast, does it put the podcast in your phone, then you download it, or is it already downloaded for you? What is the best app to use for listening to podcasts, or are they all about the same? Do other apps get their podcasts from different feeds, or does Podcasts strictly get them from the Apple store? And finally, what's the best way to delete them from the Podcast app? I see the podcast, then recently played, and a few other places where the podcast is at within the app. Thanks for all help, Shane. Sent from my iPhone

Get down cast. It does all of that and more. It's in the ios app store. here is my podcast I did on down cast. Some things did change but over all it should give you a clear idea of what the app does.

I took a look at Apple's Podcast app when it came out, but it's not nearly as good as either Downcast or iCatcher, either of which has all the features you're looking for, and are easy and fully accessible for blind users. I personally went with iCatcher because I found the interface made more sense to me, and it has pretty much all conceivable features you may want, including either streaming or downloading, excellent playlist capabilities, and it appears all of the same podcasts are available for subscription or individual podcast episode capture as you would have available using Apple's app or iTunes. I've been using iCatcher for about a year and a half on a virtually daily basis, and I can't think of any reason I'd switch to using anything else for podcasts.

I just found that the Apple Podcasts app does stream as well as download them. I don't have Internet right now, so when I tried to just stream it, it wouldn't load. But I may try Downcast though. So where does Podcasts or Downcast and others get their podcasts from? Are you limited to what you can listen to per the podcast app you choose?

I found that Podcasts from Apple streamed podcasts also because I went over to some friends house with Internet, and it streamed using Wifi. But I think I'm gonna give the other suggested apps a looksee.

#5 Another iCatcher Fan

I switched from Downcast to iCatcher a few years ago, and I haven't switched back. Downcast is a fine app, but I find iCatcher to be more intuitive and it fits the way I listen to podcasts. I'm not sure where the list of available feeds is from, but I have yet to have a problem finding enough content. If there is a feed you want that you don't find in the app's listing, you can add it manually.

Ah men to that. I love down cast and have been usingh it since I believe february or so of this year. If my link to my podcast posted take a listen. I also in the podcast feed have an addendum which lists some of the changes a few versions ago. Take care.
