Description of App

Ever wondered what it might be like to chat with a Soviet Artificial Intelligence from 1985 that’s been training in the dark for thirty years, doesn’t know the Cold War ended, and may be connected to the world’s second largest nuclear arsenal? Yes? Well, this is your lucky day! KOMRAD is a casual interactive story game for iOS 9 and 10 and watchOS 2 and 3 that plays out through conversations and choices.

When the Soviets shut down a secret project in 1985, they forgot one thing—to turn off the computer. Now you are the first person to connect to this advanced artificial intelligence that has been training in the dark for thirty years, unaware the Cold War has ended. Your conversational choices will determine your fate--and the fate of the world.

KOMRAD is a work of interactive fiction* created by the former Chief Design Officer of IBM Watson** based on fundamental principles of real AIs and chatbots. You may learn something. We promise it won't hurt.***

More importantly, here's what some of the first players**** said:

- "I felt like a kid again...I couldn't put it down!"
- "just wanted you to know this game is incredible"
- "really amazing script and story"
- "Komrad is a fantastic experience...It changed how I see Chat Bots and AI development."

* not an actual AI
** batteries (and IBM Watson) not included

In accordance with the comment "the on/off status for settings in the settings menu are not announced", please consider reducing the accessibility rating and changing the VoiceOver performance to say that most elements are accessible.

The current accessibility rating is potentially misleading.

Maybe you could email the app developer and ask him to get Voiceover to announce the status of the buttons? Sounds like all of the main game controls are accessible. Also sounds like a neat game.

Hi folks. Thanks for the feedback. We've added an issue to our list of making sure that Voiceover announces the status of the settings buttons. Also wanted to mention that there should be a new build of KOMRAD today that fixes several issues including crashes. Nasty business, those crashes. Anyway, thanks for mentioning us and hopefully we can get this settings issue fixed soon. In the mean time, only the first three buttons in Settings have a status: background audio (defaults to on), sound effects (defaults to on), and fast mode (defaults to off and will only be unlocked as you complete chapters). Anyway thanks again!

I was looking at the games, I saw this game and prayed "Hope it's free". Then I checked on the app store, yes it's free now!

I don't know if anyone is still interest in this game, but I've been working my way through it recently. I have discovered that the Bose Frames and the Bose QC35 II headset now has augmented reality built into these devices. An augmented reality version of the game can be played with these devices. Since I don't have either device, I can't report on the game. Hopefully someone on this forum can give us more info.
