Accessibility Comments

As the stay-at-home father of my 8-month-old daughter, I am deeply disappointed to report that, at this time, this app is not accessible enough for a blind person to use with VoiceOver. It is strewn with unlabeled buttons and inaccessible controls for selecting dates, times, etc. I was unable to complete a task as essential as posting a babysitting job.

VoiceOver Performance

VoiceOver reads a few page elements.

Button Labeling

Few buttons are clearly labeled.

Usability

Some parts of the app are accessible with VoiceOver, but not enough to make it usable.

Other Comments

On sept. 23, I participated in a conversation with UrbanSitter COO Sarah Rose and usability specialist Sean Marrer, where I heard positive talk about improving the accessibility of the app followed by the urbansitter.com website. Unfortunately, there was no commitment to a specific time frame for this accessibility. I urge all blind babysitters and parents to engage in consistent, strenuous advocacy with this company until we get results.
