Joplin
You're right Joplin is a nice app. I hate to be that guy... Will you please edit the title of this entry to spell the app name correctly: "Joplin" so that people can find it if they search? Thanks.
I changed it
Thank you for that. I changed the spelling eof it.
reached out to the developer about the voiceover issue
I reached out to the developer about the voiceover issue. After you click on that down triangle button there is no way to get back. I will keep everyone updated.
Someone beat me to posting this.
Hi,
I was planning to post this app, but someone beat me to it.
I love this app & wish I would've known about it when I was in college. This amazing app is available on all platforforms:
iOS, MacOS, Android & even Linux.
It works with Orca on Slint, but not Fedora.
It works well on the BrailleSense, although, it crashes in the middle of the initial sync.
The down pointing triangle is the notebook chooser
Hi,
The down pointing triangle, which Voiceover actually does describe, is the notebook chooser. If you're writing a note & it ends up in the wrong place, just open the note, double-tap that button & select the new notebook.
The developers are Mastodon. I communicate with them regularly.
down triangle
@ KE8UPE
I did message them on Mastodon and ask them to fix it. We'll see if it gets fixed. Hopefully it does. If you could do the same that would be awesome.
what would you like it to say?
Hi dennis,
What would you like the button to say?
down triangle button
If it is a notebook it should be labeled as such. also after I tapped on it voiceover said nothing.
3 questions, and, a resource
Hello! I have 3 questions, and, a resource!
ACB. Main Menu did a presentation about Joplin, and, that's how I first heard of this, it's on ACB. Media as a podcast for anyone that wayts to go look at it. Sadly, I've not had a lot of time to listen to it all the way through. But, I have 3 questions.
1. I've been on the hunt for a notetaking app, but, one of the requirements that I have, is that it either has to write in TXT. format, or be aeale to be exported to TXT. format. Can this app do either of those things?
2. First, I'm sorry if this has been asked on here before. But, one thing I did hear about Joplin, is that it supports markdown. i've thought off and on again about learning markdown, and, this app has me thinking about learning it again. My question is, where can I go to learn markdown? Are there any tutorials, podcasts, that I could listen to? Any books?
3. Can Joplin notes be exported to other formats, and if so, which other formats?
Sorry for my ignorance. But, I've been looking for anote-taking/wordprocessor app that is a little better than Voice Dream Writer, in the sense that it has some features that Voice Dream Writer lacks, like folders, etc. However, exportability is an essential because, I work with a disabled advocate who needs things in TXT. and, I do as well, because, I put docs, etc on my braille display, and, my Brailliant BI. 40X. supports TXT. best.
sorry for my ignorance once again. TIA! :-)
Thank you so much!!!
thank you so much for posting this app! I'm a college student, and I've been searching for a very good, and completely accessible note taking app for my phone. also I love the fact that Joplin supports Markdown, so I can type # and it'll create a heading level 1. That's what I loved about Ulysses when I was trying it out. I was using SimpleNote for a week or so, until I found Joplin on the AppleVis newsletter. we should get the developer on this forum. :)
also an update about the right triangle button
so they must have updated the app, because now the right triangle button says right triangle plus notebook name! and they have a beautiful VoiceOver hint: Selects notebook drop down. (not exact wording but that's basically what says.)
Nice they fixed it.
I tried it if I open it there is no way to go back I wish they had things like delete as voiceover actions but it is clear they care very much about accessibility. I could see me using this.
