Disappointing Issues
When I used the Southwest Airlines app over 10 years ago, button labeling wasn't great. Unfortunately, in my experience, this has still not improved as of version 11.11.6 (December 4, 2024). There are many buttons that are unlabeled, some that are poorly labeled, and throughout the portions of the app I tested (main screen and checking flight status), there are elements that VoiceOver does not speak at all. The issues that the app has seem easy to fix, if they devote the resources to doing so.
Sorry for taking so long to…
Sorry for taking so long to comment on this entry, but I have seen that the tabs along the bottom are not labeled. The only reason I have been holding off on updating this entry is because I want to wait until the airline makes their changes so I can provide the most accurate information. I will be traveling this summer, but a family member will be booking that trip for me as a Christmas present so I won't be able to change things any time soon.
Using Airlines as a dog user is hell
For the past three or so years, they implemented a new inaccessible requirement. Now, every guy dog user has to essentially prove that their dog is a Service Animal. These forms are mandated by the department of transportation. And unfortunately, every single airline has implemented their own form that is completely unusable. But makes this even more frustrating is that there aren’t enough people complaining about this. And that’s pretty much the norm. They’re just relying on their families to fill things out. When I actually call airlines about the inaccessibility of these forms, their response has literally been to tell me to go use a neighbor. And of course that’s not legal. I travel often. So this is essentially a living nightmare.
@Ash Rein
I wholeheartedly feel your pain. I retired my guide dog back in 2022, but I remember when this rule went into effect. I remember getting an email from The Seeing Eye, and I remember thinking that next thing you know we're going to need special IDs just to be able to travel ... oh wait, that's actually happening now, isn't it? 🙄🤦♂️
