Description of App
Radiccio is a fully native music player for the Mac, developed by David Deller (Crispy Crunchy Computerware). Its core idea is to bring all of your music sources together in a single app: it plays local files stored on your Mac, as well as Apple Music, and personal music servers running Navidrome, OpenSubsonic, Plex, or Jellyfin.
Notable features include Pins, which keep your favorite albums or artists at the top of the list; favorites, to play only the best tracks; auto skip, so you never again hear a song you dislike; and Journal, a modern alternative to star ratings that lets you record your thoughts about a song over time. The app also supports AirPlay, saving the play queue as a playlist, and an undoable shuffle: if you don't like how the queue was shuffled, a simple undo restores the original order.
Since version 1.4, the app includes Radiccio Server: with one click, your music folders become an OpenSubsonic server that can be reached from an iPhone or any other device on your local network, and even remotely with a mesh VPN such as Tailscale.
The app is free, with no time limits or ads: one local source, Apple Music, and playing files from the Finder. The optional Radiccio Plus! subscription ($2.99 per month or $29.99 per year, or a $99.99 one-time purchase) unlocks unlimited local sources, Navidrome, OpenSubsonic, Plex, Jellyfin, and the built-in server. Requires macOS 15 (Sequoia) or later.
Accessibility Comments
Radiccio is fully usable with VoiceOver. Navigation between sources, albums, and the playback queue is smooth, and the whole app can be operated comfortably from the keyboard. I had reported a few accessibility issues to the developer by email, and he fixed them. He is clearly committed to accessibility: even the screenshots on his website include detailed descriptions for screen reader users. Highly recommended for any VoiceOver user looking for a modern, native music player on the Mac.
