Description
In iOS versions prior to iOS 13.0, there would be an audible tone played when your device had been successfully unlocked using Face ID. This confirmation had specific value for those who could not see the visual changes that appear on the device. As of iOS 13.0, this tone is no longer present.

That hasn’t happened to me
I am using the latest stable version of iOS 15 and have never had this problem. It only happens if I unlock the iPhone very quickly by facial authentication...
When mine unlocks it sounds like a camera shutter.
Was it something else at one time? I've only been using face ID since April. I'm noticing that often I don't hear it, so it's a good thing I have haptics turned on. It would be nice to have some consistency.
Did not know
Never had that happen to me. Face ID made a sound when opening phone but that was only several time and them nothing.
Not an accurate description of the bug
I honestly don't think this is an accurate description of this bug. It's true that the iPhone XR, the only model available with face ID at the time, made an additional sound when unlocked, but that disappeared rather quickly, leaving only the sound we still hear, which dates back to when touch ID was the only option. As others have pointed out here though, that sound isn't consistent, and never has been.
I don't even which sound it…
I don't even which sound it's talking about haha except the standard one with faceid which I had on my xs and now on my 14 with ios 18.2, the sound similar but not exactly the one of when we take a photo?
