Description

When VoiceOver focus is placed inside a text field, and then subsequently moved onto a combo box, the menu automatically opens.

Steps to reproduce

1. Navigate to a webpage or form with both text fields and combo boxes. If you are logged into the AppleVis website, the "Add Comment" form on this page will work.
2. Place VoiceOver focus inside a text field.
3. Navigate to a combo box ("Popup Button").
4. Observe that instead of just focusing on the Combo Box, VoiceOver opens the popup menu.

Some corrections to this bug.

  1. This does not only occur on combo boxes, but popup buttons, sometimes even popups in general.
  2. While Safari is best referenced to fall in line with the Apple ecosystem, it is worth noting that this happens in any browser. My preferred browser is often Brave (Safari on occasions), and the bug can be replicated in it. In other words, any web view VoiceOver encounters will have this bug, whether it be a built-in web view in an app, or Chrome, Firefox, etc.
  3. Lastly, the popups do not always need to be next to the text field for the bug to trigger, but it can happen in any text field. As long as it is part of the form in general, it will trigger easily enough.
