Ad Blocker Recommendation for iOS

What ad blocker do people recommend for blocking pop ups in Safari, YouTube, etc. Will the same app also work in the Google app?

Also, I'm wondering how these ad blockers work. Do you just have to install them and everything is taken care of or do you have to have them running each time you use a browser, YouTube, etc.?

Thanks.

#1 block them all

most ad blockers only block safari ads, but this one blocks them all:

that's right. if some apps need in-app purchace to get rid of the ads, you don't need to spend the money any more. it doesn't work if you are using vpn, otherwise, it works perfectly.

#2 ps

since you specifically asked about youtubes...well, if you use the youtube app, then the ads will come through; but if you use safari or many of the youtubes alternative apps, you won't be bothered with ads.

#3 AdBlock

Just installed AdBlock. Is there anything else I need to do? Or does it automatically start blocking adds? Thanks.

#4 Thanks for the recommendation

I love it so far. I was using AdBlock Plus, brother to the add-in of the same name that you can get for Firefox. I think the only things it ever blocked were ads I was actually trying to see. It did not work in apps other than Safari. This one does as it claims. I might run into trouble later, but so far it's definitely worth the $2 price. The first thing I did was open a Facebook link to a site notorious for obnoxious ads all through their content. The ads are gone. You still hear the "article continues below advertisement" text that is supplied by the site itself, but that is acceptable given what is cut out. There's a widget for quickly turning it off if you do want to access something that is blocked.

#5 Ublock origin

I'd use Ublock Origin. Some ad blockers block ads, but then companies can pay them to be white-listed & have there ads let through. This one is different. I'll have to look into purchasing that app because I have some of the same issues. Particularly when I'm in the apple news app, because some channels have a thing where they give you the full story... if you click on the button to go to the website. And a lot of times, it refreshes CONSTANTLY! Even while reading a story!!

#6 popups

Do either of those apps block popups
