Anyone know how to make smiley faces using a braille display?

Hello.
I'm trying to figure out how one would incert a smiley face, or any other faces in a text message using a braille display. Any help would be awesome. Thanks
Jay.

Forum:

#1 Type it in computer braille

To make a smiley face or a frown, just type it in computer braille. A colon and a right parenthesis for a smiley and left parenthesis for frown.

#2 Is there a setting I need to change?

Is there a setting I need to change in my settings? I'm using a focus 14 blue display. Automatic braille translation is off, braille display input is contracted braille, braille display output is also contracted braille.

#3 Eight-dot uncontracted braille

Just change your input to eight-dot uncontracted braille with dots 1 2 3 4 plus space bar, then you can change it back. Or, it might actually be easier to go into braille settings on the iOS device and change it there, then change it back. I usually type in eight-dot braille, mainly for symbols.

#4 What's 8 dot braille?

What's 8 dot braille? I'm not formillior with 8 dot braille, because I never learned it in school. They only taught me 6 dot contracted braille.

#5 8 dot Braille

Hi, 8 dot Braille is what used to be called computer Braille. All letters are in uncontracted Braille and there are different symbols for punctuation marks. You can most likely find cheet sheets perhaps at National Braille press. Oh yes and the command to change the output of your display to 8 dot Braille is dots 2-3-6 or what might be referred to as a dropped h.
