Thrilled!
This is something that I have been hoping forsince I first tried TeamTalk on the computer. I am very much looking forward to this product, it will change my life immensely. I have submitted my email, thank you for giving me this incredible chance!
I'll sign up, soon
This is very exciting!! I'll plan to submit my info to become a beta tester for this app, but I may not get around to it until Sunday. Once I do though, I'll try to put it through its paces as much as I can, though life tends to get in the way of my testing things as fully as I would like to. Lol.
A little more info would be nice
Nicholas, could you tell us a little about Teamtalk and what this app will enable us to do? Thanks!
Team talk is a chat client
Team talk is a chat client for both mac and pc It allows rooms or channels etc. if you want more info go to bareware's website. or google what teamtalk is.
I don't think...
I don't think it's very likely that this will happen. As far as i know, there's been no beta or demo version before this point, and we all know how apple is about NDA, too.
Why would apple be involvd
Why would apple be involvd with this. If they can do this through test flight, they will be able to get it on to the app store, after they pay $99 to get it on there of corse.
I've been in several test flight tests and apple does not get involved. It's between you and the developer.
Sarah is correct
I'm afraid Sarah is 100 % right, all Apple does is approve or deny an app to be available on the app store. Since a vast majority of folks who use teamtalk are familiar with it, it'll be interesting to see how many users of the pc version will use the app, and more interesting is how it'll sound on the iPhone and other iDevices. Sure, the hard core audio geeks out there will probably say that the audio from an iPhone sucks, but that's their opinion and they're entitled to it, lol! I'll be interested to see what develops with this.
Oh okay
Oh okay. for whatever reason I thought that apple might involved with the betas of stuff. thanks for that clerification though. And yeah, I agree. If it actually works well, I could see a lot of users going for this if apple aproves the app when it's been submitted. Then again I could be wrong. My main concern will of course be accessibility as an end user of the softwear.
I love Teamtalk and have sent
I love Teamtalk and have sent my requesth to join. I hope it has the 3d function that it has on the PC, as that makes it possible to listen to one person when a few conversations are going on all at once.
as have I
I have also sent a request to join the beta testing team. If it does have that function, it'll be neet. I would like it to be accessible more than anything else though. THe mac version is useable, but only just, Imho. It still needs a lot of work to make it work with VO.
all I am going to say is...
If I've got this correct, Bearware.dk is the official website of Team Talk 4 and 5. If you look at the front page, you will see an article about a software development kit (sdk) that allows developers to integrate Team Talk's functionality into an app of some kind, but there is no officially endorced Team Talk 5 app that is mentioned on their website. Don't you guys think that if anyone was going to develop the iOS app, that it'd also be bearware.dk? Approach this with caution, fellow space travelers.
here's the latest, take this as you wish
Hello, here is the latest of the Team Talk Saga, hoep you enjoy and take this as you wish. https://audioboom.com/boos/3210823-and-now-what-we-ve-all-been-waiting-for-a-demo-of-teamtalk-5-for-ios via @audioBoom
I saw that
I saw that, and I took note of a few things.
1: the guy who's supposedly making this app wasn't testing this on his phone. He was on his laptop computer, using his internal microphone.
2. THe part where his speech synth said "TeamTalk 5, heading" could've been written in any text editor.
That's about all I noticed, but then I only heard a bit of it before it got on my nerves. What do you guys think? Sure I might be coming off as a total d*ck, but there you go.
Joseph King
I think we've been duped, again.
I'm focusing on writing an ebook right now, so am puting my energies someware else. I heard that they pulled the wool over our eyes so to speak regarding team talk for iOs before. Ok, it was someone else, but yeah. So I'm not really surprised that this happened.
Now to get back to finishing my book, and in to positive doings.
Not trying to defame but?
Hello Members, Most of you know me as a peaceful and logical person who does podcasts that help the community. In regards to the Team Talk for iOS saga, I happen to be there when Mr. Acosta riled up a bunch of other blind users on a team talk server back in January. Ever since that day nothing has been said nor done until an individual called him on it during the first part of April. This particular individual had express interest just like the rest of us to be part of the beta testing party. It was then when Mr. Acosta had announced on Twitter the same sugarcoat talk he announced here about asking for beta testers and e-mail addresses to apparently sign us up for what we would hope to be part of the beta testing party. Two weeks after the Twitter crash of bombardation of Team Talk for iOS, Mr. Acosta had announce a first beta release date of May 4th an prior to this we would be receiving invites with instructions to install the beta onto the iPhone. A day or two prior to the scheduled release he announced that he had to push release date to May 12th due to audio issues but yet no invites nor instructions have been received by any of us. May 12 comes and goes and guess what> You guessed it, no Team Talk for iOS. What's more, Mr. Acosta had told some individuals that apparently we beta testers were under a Nondisclosure Agreement (NDA) and yet, none of us had received such documentation. Finally, an individual called him on this and asked that either he shows us a prototype of such beta if it even exists or none of us were going to believe him and therefore credibility and trust would be lost. A meeting was arranged in which Mr. Acosta was going to show us his prototype so that we can back him up and say "yes Team Talk for iOS will be arriving" and instead, this is what you all hear on the audioboo I shared.
I apologize if my posting is long-winded but wanted to shed some light, to let you all know that I'm not trying in any way shape or form to defame Mr. Acosta. I believe and please correct me if I'm wrong, that when something is being talked about to be released either as beta or on the market, a prototype usually gets either demoed or shown so that spectators can see it and enjoy its beauty. In this case, Mr. Acosta has failed to stand and deliver, and is only saying this sugarcoat of team talk for iOS to seek attention and to boost his ego. Now Mr. Acosta is saying that Team Talk for iOS beta is to be released on May 27th and yet no supposed documents/NDA has been received. I will admit that I'm not familiar with the development/beta process, but I would believe that a good developer would not clown around and mislead potential testers, as well as pull release dates cause he/she can. At this point folks, all I can say is don't hold your breath for becoming a beta tester for such app until you hear from a more credible and reliable source. And if May 27th comes and goes and no Team Talk for iOS beta comes to light, just let it go and we can explore other ways to make this happen.
well said
Well said. I wanted to say that myself. Ah well.
I've beta tested other apps...
I've been involved with beta testing an iOS app, that being Freeq which, sadly is no longer in the appstore. When I contacted the devs about making it easier to use, I was politely asked to not share any actual details regarding functionality of the app or specific stuff about playing the game. In other words, to make it more clear, I could say that I was involved with the beta testing process, but was not allowed to give specific information about it. I certainly respected and honored that request. This whole saga is just a big mess. At this point,I'm done. folks like Mr. Acosta have ruined it for me. He needs to learn that just because he says something is going to appear, doesn't make it so. If may 27th comes and an actual *working* beta version of Teamtalk appears, I will be very surprised. To add to this, someone on twitter thought it'd be really funny to present the Android version of Team Talk, but he claimed that it was the yet non-existant iOS version. If it was any other night I would've been laughing right along with some of the folks who thought it was funny. I've got a pretty wicked sense of humor but I was absolutely not amused. A lot of people who have iOS devices genuinely want to see Team Talk on iOS, and now that the SDK is available, this can happen. The only trouble now is if someone does, no one will believe it. I can think of a few occasions where people have pretended to have it on their devices through audio trickery, and it just ain't funny. So lets just say I'm from Missouri as far as this whole business goes. it's incredibly sad that people are acting this way.
Yeah personally I don't think
Yeah personally I don't think it will happen. You cannot code that quickly as there are some accessibility issues regarding XCode and apple needs to approve the app. Plus you need to pay $99 to submit to the app store and t needs to be paid every year. I personally am against team talk but am forced to use it. I have my reasons though of why.
I personally think this thing sounds fishy and this comes from almost 10 years of beta testing everything from windows, to mac, to iOs and one thing on linux, which I can't remember what it is now, but that's besides the point.
Anyway i hope all of you are having a wonderful blessed Sunday.
my thoughts on this mess
Hello everyone, most of you know me, if you do, you know that I like jailbreaking and I wanted to learn how to develop things for the jailbreak community, so back in November I added Mr. Acosta on Skype and he told me about team talk for iOS and told me that he would have a beta in a few months, 6 months have past, and nothing. I personally never believed that, and most of us have seen that he isn't really working on this. I am thinking about emailing http://bearware and asking them if this thing is actually true. if it isn't, why doesn't Mr. Acosta just tell us, that's all he has to do.
This is not true
for those of you who heard the audio recording, you may have noticed what's going on regarding TeamTalk for iOS. In my opinion this is a total lie and can state that this will not be true. Teamtalk may not release at anytime soon.
Agreed
I have to agree. I highly doubt that this guy is fonna release TeamTalk for iOS any time soon.
On the 27th, we will know
Well, it's the 26th of May here as of this writing, so tomorrow if he doesn't release this next beta as promised, which, I highly doubt he will, we can all consider this whole thing null and void. Total and complete waste of everyone's time.
this makes me wonder
ok all,
this makes me wonder, what is actually going on here? Or is nothing going to happen with team talk? Because honestly i was looking forward to this, and when i listened to the recording, it sounded like not much progress at all has been made. Don't get me wrong, i am a programer my self, but i don't think it is right to lie about progress made. I find it strange that Nikolus is not replying to this thread.
did you notice...
Listen back to the recording...and listen to how much he stutters and stammers like, oh crap, I'm being caught, think of another excuse! I seriously don't think anything will happen. People have wanted this for a long time and as I said a couple days ago the sad part is if and when someone does develop it, no one will believe them. We've been burned a few times before. and the worst part is the people who are doing this are blind as well. I would totally expect something like this from the sighted folks....heh lets screw around with the blind people and give them a bit of a rough time. But the people who are doing this are also blind and actually enjoy seeing people get upset. Pretty sad, guys.
very disapointed
Hi all. I am very disappointed. I signed up for the beta myself cause I would love to see how something like TT would fare on iOS just like many of us here. and now the developer isn't even responding to the thread he created? wow, just wow!!! I have been a beta tester for a few iOS products myself and was also asked to not share vitle info. While in the beta testing process, I was receiving regular emails with updates on when the next beta was to be released and what to expect. and if there was any reason that the developer had to push back the release date of the next beta, I was notified and was given specific and direct reasons as to why there would be a slite delay. so, I am very disappointed in the fact that someone, even blind themselves, would come here to a well respected community and jar everyone's hopes like this. If you are in the process of making an app and development had to stop for whatever reason, you should be man enough to come back to this thread and explain to all of us here the reasons. On the other hand, if this app wasn't even created for iOS and you did this to mess with us, It's a pretty sick joke!!! You should feel ashamed of yourself and apologize here to us. I am sorry for my blunt response guys. I hope none of this gets taken to harshly, but, I feel it needed to be put out there. Well. I'm gonna go make my mood a bit brighter now with gaming and all that jazz. Take care all.
lets just find out tomorrow
Well, just all chill out and see what happens, if this beta doesn't go anywhere tomorrow, we can pretty much just say its not true. He isn't even responding to my emails, Skype messages, and twitter messages
I bet
I bet it won't happen. I've delt with his type before so...yeah.
Teamtalk Beta
Hi, Please don't give up. It isn't that I am not answering You guys. But, I was on vacation this weekend. I got everyone's Apple ID. Now, A lot of people can say What ever They want. But, Family comes first. We will have just over 400 Beta testers. Some people will ask Why so much?
Well, We want as many people to test this Beta out as We possiblly can. Remember, This will be the first Beta. So, It might have bugs just like any Beta software. We also want the people to make sure that This works with Voiceover. I have been testing Voiceoverto see how it works. Since We have such a large Beta Program, We will be pushing out this Beta to as many people as We can. I have all Apple IDs in a list. This will take just a few day. You will get an email in your Inbox.
I just wanted to come out and Tell all of You what I have been up to. There is a Podcast that We did about 2 weeks ago. You can visit
http://www.edifiedaccess.info
and look for the podcast link. It should say edifiedaccess Radio. Then, You will see a new page with all of the podcasts in a list. Please look for the link to the Quick Learning Techies show. You will see a list of all of the podcasts in Mp3 format. Click on the second file in the list. Mat Barnhill is the owner of this podcast. He brings his listeners to ask me about Teamtalk Beta. Please listen to this wonderful Interview.
I will do a podcast on Applevis on the Beta.
Take care.

Please Just Host the Podcast and Post the Link
Hello Nicholas,
It would probably be best if you simply hosted the beta podcast yourself (via Dropbox, AudioBoom, etc.) and posted the link in this discussion.
Thank you,

another excuse
hi guys, this sounds like this is going to be another time where he pushes the beta back, again. I'm done, I'm not going to believe one word until I hear/get a live demonstration of the application, not just "team talk 5, heading"
@ivan
@ivan I have to agree with you. Unless I can get a working thing, I'm not gonna believe it'll happen.
well, it's May 27 and...
Well, it's May 27 and there's still no sign of a beta. Congrats, we just got ****ed over. Again. Oh well, just means I won't have to put trust in certain people again.
A polite reminder
We appreciate that the existence or not of this beta has become something that many people feel quite strongly about, but please continue to be respectful and polite towards others in your comments. As always on here, personal abuse and profanity will not be tolerated.
I agree
Looks like we were all correct. Clearly Mr. Acosta is not to be trusted. He has proven this time and time again with these silly antics.
Indeed
Indeed. personally, if I were him. I would've really thought about doing this before actualy taking it on. That's just me though. It's when you don't think about what you do before you do it is where things can get hairy, especially with programming.
As of right now, I'm thinking it won't hapen. If it does, I will be very, very surprised, regardless of who's coding the app.
We've ben had
Yeah being that some of the programing interface things are not accessible for now with XCode, and XCode is I think the only way to code? Yeah I think we've all ben had, again. And that's putting it nicely.
What I don't get...
What I don't get is why we humans do this to each other. It's sick. Just knock me down and kick me, why don't you? *sigh*
Enough Already...
Can we stop with the negativity already, please?
I get that people are mad that TeamTalk isn't coming out on iOS. (Let's face it: it isn't.) But at what point can we say enough is enough and put this to bed? There comes a point when constructive criticism and expression of displeasure becomes distructive bashing, and I think some of the posts are just about there. Come on, guys, we can do better.
Well, we can always...
Well, we can always ask to have this topic closed nd removed. I'm sure the editorial team would be more tha happy to oblige...
evidence
I think that's the best bet right now as we now know what's going on, at the same time, there should be a way to close the topic for archival purposes, that is, no one else can comment. This way we can look back and use this as some kind of evidence against what's his face should we need to do so.
Just my scrambled thoughts.
Yeah
Yeah. but really I don't think they'll do it unless they have to.
Lets do the Applevis editorial team a favor
Lets close this thread so they won't have to. This whole situation has been a complete waste of everyone's time, and next time Mr. Acosta makes great claims like this, do not listen.
aggreed
Aggreed.
also agreed
I also agreed. If there's a way to close the thread ourselves, I say go for it.
Let's Take a Negative and Turn into a Positive, shall we?
Folks, I do realize we are all upset in regards to the Team Talk for iOS. It is evident that mr. Acosta once more failed to deliver and stay true to his word. But at the same time, we cannot continue this bashing or negativity, to where Applevis may have to step in and do some serious moderation. So I propose this, why don't we take this negativity and turn it into a positive? Rather than complaining or expressing disgust and frustration, let's instead focus our efforts on how we can make Team Talk for iOS a reality. I have spoken to a few individuals and the thought of Crowd Sourcing was one of the options. If anyone has a Team Talk Server and would like to host some sort of a brainstorming meeting so we can all contribute, I'm up for that and I'm in every step of the way no matter what way we choose to take this project. Let's move on and focus our energy somewhere else and let's not give Mr. Acosta anymore attention.
agreed.
I gree 100 percent. I won't be taking part because I don't really like team talk, how ever I like the idea.
good idea, but...
good idea, but who knows if the crowd sourcing thing will work? And I wasn't trying to be negative when I said we should just have this topic closed. I was just suggesting that we have it closed to avoid any more drama and other sh*t. From reading all the posts on here, including mine, there's a lot of badness going on.
It might work,, but I would
It might work,, but I would not know how to go about doing this. I mean in terms of accessibility and XCode you just are going to have issues up the wazo. Plus you would need to pay like thousands of dollars to programmers who can help with the SDK and stuff.
no kidding
No kidding there.
TeamTalk 5 for iOS
Hello, I want to inform all of you that I am no longer the main developer for TeamTalk five for iOS. Right now, I am focusing on developing my own apps and I am also trying to graduate high school. School and my own app development have got in the way and I had to stop this development because I really wasn't getting anywhere in terms of help from bear where. I would send emails and just not get a response until a few days later. So, we have a new developer developing this app and sorry for the inconvenience. So, just be patient and be on the lookout for TeamTalk five to be in the app store. I won't say anymore and I will keep quiet about it. Again, sorry for the inconvenience. But, when school and other priorities are taking place, sometimes this type of stuff can't be done. At least we have someone who is willing to take time and who has more time on their hands and develop this amazing app.
I hope you guys will understand and I can't wait to get my hands on the first public beta.
