VO Lagging 3 Seconds When Swiping Between Elements?

Hello,
We're building an app that is using OpenCV and has a canvas to display what the camera is seeing to sighted users.
For some reason, when the camera is on, VO lags so much between swipes, the app becomes almost unusable.
We are testing on an IPhone 8 and 6S.
Any idea what is causing the lag? Apps like SeeingAI use computer vision combined with a visual view like we are doing, so something like this should be possible. Is there some way of managing threads that could maybe help?
