First, I'm not on the beta. i'm on 18.6.2.
But my (sighted) friend is on the beta and she wanted to try the language translation thing. She's fluent in French, I'm not. So we pretended that she could only speak french and the results were.... comical. Definitely unusable, it misheard every other word of French (and English) and threw off the translation terribly.
On the other hand, we tried it with text messaging. I'm fluent in Portuguese, she's not. And that worked really well. She said on the IOS26 the original and translation show up in 2 different colours. Obviously I have no idea how that side of it works with VO.
On my side, with IOS18.6.2, i just saw the translation 2 lines down from the original, which means only one phone has to be running the latest IOS, or even be an iPhone, for this to all work which is really cool!

Share Your Bug Reports with AppleVis

I've tried it. It does best in iMessages.
I feel like the Live Translation over phone/facetime doesn't do as well.
Just my thoughts.
