I'm running the latest public beta of Senoma. I've turned off autocorrect globally but in Mail it's present. It's also happening on this site when I type. granted it catches my mistakes but I'd rather I do a decent job and find my own errors. Is this a bug or not? I can go into mail's edit menu but all the options are greyed out predictably. Please, if anyone can fix this, it's driving me even more crazy then my Irish whit has me already. thanks.

Share Your Bug Reports with AppleVis
If you experience a bug in Apple Beta Software, the most important thing you can do is to file a report in Feedback Assistant. Please do not assume that Apple is already aware of a bug or that your report won't make a difference; your report may provide crucial information, and submitting bug reports directly to Apple helps them reproduce and resolve the issue faster. The more reports they receive, the higher the priority Apple is likely to give to fixing the bug.
If you are using beta software, please use the Feedback Assistant on your device to submit feedback and bug reports. If you are using a public release, this blog post explains how to report the issue and what information to include.
In 2025, AppleVis launched the Community Bug Reporting Program with the goal of improving the quality and quantity of information we share with the community about bugs in Apple software releases. If you would like to contribute to this effort, please submit your reports via our Community Bug Report Form.
All reports shared with AppleVis must first be filed with Apple via Feedback Assistant. More information about the Community Bug Program is available here.

I'm seeing this
Hi,
I'm also seeing this in Sonoma beta. I'm getting messages about corrections and words seem to have been corrected when I do a proof-read. Very annoying. I cannot say if this is only VoiceOver-related, or an issue in general.
Have you tried..
Hi,
A temporary solution for both Mail, and Safari/whatever browser you use would be to Re-enable the Global setting under Keyboard > Text in the System Settings. Next, go to the top menu > Edit > Spelling and Grammar > and Uncheck the 'Check spelling while typing' option. Do this for both Mail and <Insert browser here>. Also I would recommend going back into Keyboard > Text settings and disabling EVERYthing there. Close both Mail and your browser. Finally give her a reboot.
HTH. π
Thanks finally!! ;)
Hi Brian, I didn't look to see if your name was spelled that way, sorry. I'll try that when I give a crap to do so. Lol. seriously i appreciate the help but right now am waiting for the hurricane which is going to bring severe flooding. thankfully not in a flood zone but still. I'll have to find this post again. Thanks so much. will see you and all others when the storm's over.
Don't drown
...and stay away from yellow brick roads, and talking scarecrows. Ok, so you said Hurricane, and not Tornado. In my defense its late and I am something of an insomniac.
PS I don't miss FL...... ok maybe a little. π³
Well I don't miss Boston either
We're even! ;) Yeah it should be a hell of a storm. Hoping I don't lose power, because then goes the web then goes my sanity because our reception in the crib sucks, ahem! Can't sleep either. Only thing I miss about Boston is Mom, but she's in heaven so I know she followed my Dad and I down here. I'm twenty min outside Tampa.
Is this related in any way to the bug Dennis Long had in iOS 17?
I canβt remember exactly what problem he was getting as itβs not something Iβve noticed but Iβm pretty sure, recently he was having problems with auto correct in iOS 17. Within the last week if you check his comments. Good luck with the storm.
@Andy Lane
Possibly since iOS 17 and macOS 17 share quite a bit of the same code.
And former Daytona Beach resident here. About the only thing I miss is my ocean. ππΌββοΈ
