Apple Beta Releases

For those of you who love crossword puzzles, I have terrific news for you!

I recently got a new iPad so I decided to take Apple News Plus for a spin. I have the beta of iOS 17 installed and I remembered that Apple News Plus was to have crossword puzzles in iOS 17. I figured why not, let’s take this puppy for a spin. To my surprise, I found the puzzles fully accessible! Yeah, we finally have crossword puzzles we can now solve!

I would suggest for those of you who have Apple News Plus to give this a try! I was able to solve a mini crossword without checking for hints.

Happy solving!

Share Your Bug Reports with AppleVis

If you experience a bug in Apple Beta Software, the most important thing you can do is to file a report in Feedback Assistant. Please do not assume that Apple is already aware of a bug or that your report won't make a difference; your report may provide crucial information, and submitting bug reports directly to Apple helps them reproduce and resolve the issue faster. The more reports they receive, the higher the priority Apple is likely to give to fixing the bug.

If you are using beta software, please use the Feedback Assistant on your device to submit feedback and bug reports. If you are using a public release, this blog post explains how to report the issue and what information to include.

In 2025, AppleVis launched the Community Bug Reporting Program with the goal of improving the quality and quantity of information we share with the community about bugs in Apple software releases. If you would like to contribute to this effort, please submit your reports via our Community Bug Report Form.

All reports shared with AppleVis must first be filed with Apple via Feedback Assistant. More information about the Community Bug Program is available here.

Using voiceover on my iPhone, Apple news, mini crossword is able to read the clue and announces the number of spaces but after I input some letters and eventually want to change them, it's a mess. There's no way to know what you're deleting and what's staying on the screen. Does anyone know if there are specific settings that make it work?
I realize it works in the sense that You can input letters because the keyboard is down at the bottom and is associated with the current clue but if you make a mistake or need to change anything good luck and when if you do try to change something inevitably it's changing the wrong word, or deleting some letters from seemingly random words…

Haven't figured this out either. I've yet to solve a puzzle without having to reveal it first.

It broke in iOS 17.1 and has yet to be fixed. I have made numerous reports to no avail. I have stopped my subscription to Apple News Plus. I doubt Apple will fix this and I have given up on it.
