Could I do this in settings, Voiceover, commands? Just trying to think of an efficient way to set this up, so it would be similar to using control-space to switch keyboards. It would be great if I could type emoticons and they become emoji. This seems to work on mac in messages, but not on ios. I am getting lost in the maze of commands that are available. TIA,

If you experience a bug in Apple Beta Software, the most important thing you can do is to file a report in Feedback Assistant. Please do not assume that Apple is already aware of a bug or that your report won't make a difference; your report may provide crucial information, and submitting bug reports directly to Apple helps them reproduce and resolve the issue faster. The more reports they receive, the higher the priority Apple is likely to give to fixing the bug.
If you are using beta software, please use the Feedback Assistant on your device to submit feedback and bug reports. If you are using a public release, this blog post explains how to report the issue and what information to include.
In 2025, AppleVis launched the Community Bug Reporting Program with the goal of improving the quality and quantity of information we share with the community about bugs in Apple software releases. If you would like to contribute to this effort, please submit your reports via our Community Bug Report Form.
All reports shared with AppleVis must first be filed with Apple via Feedback Assistant. More information about the Community Bug Program is available here.

this can be done
I use a braille display. You go under commands and keyboard. You want next keyboard.
Thanks!
Yes, exactly the info I needed. I can use my Braille display to do it, but at times I just use Braille screen input for the quick convenience. This should do it.
glad to help
Glad to help. Its awesome the improvements to Braille this year! Apple did one awesome job!
Did they finally make itβ¦
Did they finally make it where the Braille keyboard can finally just be default, instead of having to get to it via the rotor? I am on Android, and really like what they've done with Talkback, and the Talkback Braille keyboard, but it's missing some key gestures, like switching languages and grade. To do it, you have to go in to the keyboard menu to do it, and while it's not hard, it is slower, and that is one thing I definitely appreciated about the iOS implementation.
