Your Feedback is Important to Improving Accessibility on Apple platforms

Don't assume that Apple is aware of a bug or that your report won't make a difference - submitting bug reports directly to the company helps them reproduce and resolve the issue faster. Your report may provide crucial information. The more reports they receive, the higher the priority they give to fixing the bug.

If you're using a beta version, use the Feedback Assistant on your device to submit feedback and bug reports. If you're using a public release, follow the instructions on this page.

They took "Release Candidate" out of the title. Barring a major show stopper, I think this is exactly what the public will get sometime next week.

By TheBlindGuy07 on Saturday, March 29, 2025 - 14:20

Yes previous wasn't this is just 18.4 for example so the real rc, so devs won't get any update next week.

By allabtech on Saturday, March 29, 2025 - 14:20

I'm installing it now.

By Dennis Long on Saturday, March 29, 2025 - 17:20

Looks good. I agree I suspect it will be released Tuesday. Mac rumors agrees with me :)

By Sebby on Saturday, March 29, 2025 - 17:20

I've already checked all the possible settings parameters for iOS 18.4 on account of this being used on my production phone now, which means I'm ready to rock when it's officially released.

However, I still maintain that Apple Intelligence is a total waste of time and effort, except possibly Safari reader view summaries. Those are nice, if not essential. I would have been all right with Mail thread summaries, except of course for the stupid damage Apple inflicted in iOS 18.4 in the Mail app with AI on. I can't wait until people start running into that; I can promise you they won't be best pleased! It's still there, far as I can tell.

Just think, about six months ago a whole bunch of people around the world went out and bought themselves the latest iPhone model, just for a chance at Apple Intelligence, only to spend the next six months trying to figure out ways to disable its features. 🙄

By Sebby on Saturday, March 29, 2025 - 18:20

However, if I'm being honest I think the biggest problem, notwithstanding that it's not very bright obviously, is the latency and added compute burden it adds, for not that much extra benefit. This is one of those things where, eventually, everyone will have it and it won't be a problem because the hw will eventually catch up and nobody will mind. Until then, I'm just glad there is still a master switch to turn it off and even delete the downloaded model data. In future I suspect Apple will just remove that switch entirely and the UI will just blithely assume AI is always available. Not sure I'm looking forward to that, at least until Apple adds individual controls to each subsystem (like Siri) that uses the feature. It can only get more integrated over time, and, after all, I am using the earliest iPhone that supports it (15 Pro).

By PaulMartz on Saturday, March 29, 2025 - 18:20

Yes, that was me, but with the M4 Mac Mini, not the iPhone. I've kept AI functionality enabled on the iPhone, except for email categorization.

Yes, need to consult with my lawyer. False advertisement by Apple, from what I heard they did not even had it. It was just talk. Reagan was right. Trust but verify. How many millions should I get? Need to pay my mortgage.

Ha! If it were that easy, we would all be filthy rich.

The bug with the horrible lack of precision with the 3 fingers gestures on the trackpad for scrolling on the mac has been acknowledged I saw it just today <10 similar reports so at least that's an update. FB16111381. I last reported on it on January 20th as of 15.3 beta 3. Will see if it got any improvements on 15.4 RC 2.

Problem #1: When reading a notification or text message on the locked screen with Voiceover, the phone will sometimes shut down before the complete message is spoken.

I don't know when I first noticed this in the 18.4 betas but don't think I ever experienced this problem with prior versions of iOS. I did finally report it today because it is annoying. If the complete messsage isn't read before the phone hsuts off then one has to unlock the phone before reading the message and this takes time and is inefficient.

Problem #2: I have complained to Apple Accessibility several times in the past that when closing a news article in the News app using Voiceover, focus is not returned to the title of the news article that I was just reading. Thus if one is reading articles in sequence, one always lost their place.

Interestingly, in iOS 18.4 this behavior mostly seems to be fixed. When I close an article, Voiceover speaks the title of the article I just closed and focus is on that article in the list of articles.

The problem is, however, that if I open an article to read from within one of my "Favorites" categories on the Today tab and then close it, focus does not usually return to that article. Sometimes focus jumps to the "Bakc" button and sometimes someplace else. Occasionally focus jumps to the article just closed, but not usually. So they seemed to have fixed this behavior in the list of articles in the Today tab, but not when in the list of articles in any sub section like Favorites.

Thanks god they've fixed the horrible icloud mail notification bug with this update on ios.

By Holger Fiallo on Monday, March 31, 2025 - 00:20

Regarding it closing before VO reads it, it always had been there. Now is more consistent. It happens more than before. Also Siri stop working, needed to restart phone. Nuts.

By Brian on Monday, March 31, 2025 - 01:20

Would you like a saltine?
On a sidenote, I'm glad they're finally getting around to giving the News application some love.

By Holger Fiallo on Monday, March 31, 2025 - 01:20

No. Just apple to follow through with what they promise. I am paying for 16 pro max and want apple to do what they said. If in my worked as a social worker promised something and did not do it, I would be looking for a job. That was when I was working. PS A nice cold Screw driver be nice.

By Brian on Monday, March 31, 2025 - 02:20

At this point I think I would just like to see bugs get squashed, forget about any new features.
I'll call your screwdriver, and raise you one cherry 7-Up with a shot of vodka in it. 😉🥃

I agree with the poster who expressed the opinion that Apple needs to focus on squashing bugs before adding even more bells and whistles to iOS. For the most part, I don't have any serious issues with my phone, but there are a ton of weird little quirks that I've just learned how to live with. I know it won't happen, but I wish they'd focus exclusively on fixing bugs and general iOS stabilization for iOS 19. The huge redesign should happen with iOS 20. That just makes ever-so-much more sense in my little mind.

By TheBlindGuy07 on Monday, March 31, 2025 - 18:20

Even more so for macos and especially Voiceover. But we can't change that, we can only keep reporting, and most importantly, share our findings publically so other users are aware.

By Holger Fiallo on Monday, March 31, 2025 - 18:20

Ask Apple to call ORKA. They do a good job of killing bugs. I want a Coke and Rum. No ice. At lease with the new way the iOS would look, apple had already delt with the bugs in the system with their visual pro. Hope VO works with it well, Not to many blind people own a visual pro so we do not know about bugs with VO.
