I've just got the M4 iPad pro and I think the AI stuff is going to take this iPad to the next level, but I'm wondering, how you feel about the new iPadOS?
Do you think Apple has done enough? What would you have liked to have seen, what should an iPad be to you?
I started the draft of this post with maybe how the new OS hadn't been that great compared to the new specs of the iPads that use Apple m series chips, and while there were a few features I wanted, like slightly better file management/transfers, I soon hit a wall, what else did I want? What did I need?
For me, I think that it is really important these really powerful devices are allowed to be used to their full potential, but other than turning the iPad into a Mac, what is that? I think the iPad still needs to retain its tablet feel, I think itβs going to be a beast of a device with the new BSI and AI stuff, but what more did I want? Well, it's hard to think of anything.
I'm completely against turning an iPad into a Mac, or giving it macOS.
So, how are your feelings on the iPadOS update this year? Because for me, I went from being disappointed, to about 90% happy with it while writing my original post, and actually thinking about it.

Share Your Bug Reports with AppleVis
If you experience a bug in Apple Beta Software, the most important thing you can do is to file a report in Feedback Assistant. Please do not assume that Apple is already aware of a bug or that your report won't make a difference; your report may provide crucial information, and submitting bug reports directly to Apple helps them reproduce and resolve the issue faster. The more reports they receive, the higher the priority Apple is likely to give to fixing the bug.
If you are using beta software, please use the Feedback Assistant on your device to submit feedback and bug reports. If you are using a public release, this blog post explains how to report the issue and what information to include.
In 2025, AppleVis launched the Community Bug Reporting Program with the goal of improving the quality and quantity of information we share with the community about bugs in Apple software releases. If you would like to contribute to this effort, please submit your reports via our Community Bug Report Form.
All reports shared with AppleVis must first be filed with Apple via Feedback Assistant. More information about the Community Bug Program is available here.

Command F5?
Has Apple finally added the Command F5 keystroke to toggle VoiceOver? I have an iPad 7 with a broken home button.
No. At least, not in theβ¦
No. At least, not in the first developer beta.
keyboards
Agreed, that's a good point on editing and selecting text with a keyboard, I'd actually agree with that.
I haven't actually used the beta with a keyboard yet, but when I do, I'll have a look. Don't think there have been any changes there though.
As for turning voiceover on and off with a keyboard, does tripple pressing escape not work anymore? Sorry, I know that was years ago, but I've not tried that since about iOS 8 or 9 on iPad. I never need to luckily, but if anyone does find a way, or knows the hidden method it would definitely be good to hear it.
Wow, there is a bug, just discovered
Be careful when using BSI, it inserts spaces when you type, but they're not actually inserting all the time.
