Anyone Else Not Noticing Any AirPods Mic Improvements After iOS 26 and Firmware Updates?

Hi all, so I had the AirPods Pro 2, and when iOS 26 was announced they stated that the headphones would be getting a substantial upgrade that would enhance the quality of the microphones to what apple referred to as "studio quality." I've used studio quality gear before and I fully did not expect Apple's claim to be at all accurate, but I did expect that there would be some improvement. When I updated iOS and my AirPods firmware, however, I was very disappointed to find that the quality of the mic seems to have not meaningfully improved at all. It sounded pretty much the same as it did before the update when I recorded voice memos. For testing purposes I did set recording quality to lossless to minimize compression, but the recording still sounded like an average quality zoom call.
I got the AirPods Pro 3 today with my new phone, and I'm very impressed with the minor updates to ANC and sound quality, and I'm extremely impressed with how well they fit compared to the last ones. But anyway, I made sure to let their firmware update to the current version and I put their mics to the test as well. Sadly I did not find them to be any better than the previous model.
Now, I'm not saying they're bad microphones. They work just fine for calls and voice notes. I'm mostly just curious why Apple claims to have improved them so much. Maybe I need a different recording app to properly test them? I'm honestly not sure, but with Apple making a claim that they are now studio quality I did expect at least some noticable improvement. Has anybody else messed around with this, and if so have you had better results?
