Greetings, friends. I hope that this finds all of you well. I have one of the NLS EReader machines. It happens to be the Humanware version. I have connected it to my computer to try and use it as a braille display. I find it fascinating how the refreshable part of the device works. My question is can anyone recommend a good source to go for learning how to use Windows commands through the EReader? I am using it with JAWS and had no trouble connecting via USB. Thanks in advance for any help.
PS: If you are in the U.S., read braille, and have not tried these things out, I highly recommend contacting your local library for the blind and checking into it. Refreshable braille is pretty darn fascinating.
Best,
Scott

Can't Help with the Windows Stuff but...
Scott, I'm glad you got one of the HumanWare eReaders. I have one too and it's pretty cool. I'm actually not currently reading any books/magazines on it, as I still have audio books to get through on my BARD wishlist. But the device works well when connected to my Mac. I found out through the Hadley Institute for the Blind and Visually Impaired, about UEB Online at http://www.uebonline.org . I'm curious whether you or anyone else on here has taken their training, and if so how was it? I registered on there, but have yet to start anything because I've been rather busy with other things.
screen reader manuals
I found the commands in the jaws/NVDA help documentation. In Jaws help they have a book just for braille, it's a lot.
A resource
Ok, I have a resource for you. The HumanWare Ereader is similar in firmware and appearance to a Brailliant BI. 40X braille display, which is mane by HumanWare. So, my suggestion is go to HumanWare's web site, and, then go to their support page for either the Brailliant BI. 20 or 40X. From there, go to the documentation, and find something that's called "Workingwith your brailliant BI. 40X with IOS. a quick reference guide". It will be in DOCX. format, and then, download it. The commands will work similarly. Hope this helps!
Thank You for all of the Responses
I really appreciate all of the help. I will check out each resource you all recommended. Best.
Command help and Jaws.
I wonder if FS Companion could help. Insert-space and then F1 and ask FS companion your questions.
UEB Online it's a good sorse.
I love the UEB online websight.
It's a good sorse to learn UEB.
Thanks Again
Hi. UEb is indeed a great source. I signed up yesterday and started the training. It's a really great braille refresher even though I've been using braille since Social Security Numbers were written in Roman Numerals. My real interest here is in learning how to control the computer through a braille display. Still, I thank you all for the wonderful resources.
