Hello all. For all who have tried mbraille and or braille screen input? What's the differents between the two? What can you do with mbraille that you can't otherwise do with braille screen input? Is it better than BSI for all who use it? Not saying I'll switch, as I love my BSI method, but curious minds wanna know as I know people who use MBraille and what not. I did install the app on my phone because I got curious and I guess I see potential in this, but why, when you already have a built-in system for IOS that allows you to type in braille? And for free! Who knows, I may switch and find out that I like it, or maybe I'll use both depending on what I feel like at the time but guess you'll never know right? Anyways, humor me on this.

mBraille
I used mBraille often until Braille Screen Input came to iOS. There are still times I like to type something right into mBraille's clipboard and then have it open in Google; and if I want to write something on the longer side and easily be able to navigate and edit the text, I'll use the mBraille clipboard. I always found its incorporation of a system keyboard kind of clunky, and for that, I prefer BSI.
MBraille
Play around with MBraille. I believe it is a free install with some potential paid add-ons. If you like it, use it. If you don't, don't. It's got a help system, unlike BSI. It will tell you all about what it can do. I, for one, find it much more responsive than the built-in BSI.
A few of the things I like…
A few of the things I like about MBraille.
1. I find it easier to edit text if writing a long email. The commands for moving around and editing are efficient once you get the hang of them. It is easy to review the text you have entered while typing.
2. I find the spell check a little easier to use than BSI.
3. Easy creation of calendar events via text string.
4. I like sending texts with the dot command. If I want to text 3 people, I type my message, then type .sms mark bob john that would create a group text with my message. I find this faster than creating group messages by tapping around.
5. I can make a quick note, then type .save notename. I then have a file in dropbox called notename, or whatever name I choose that has my note. I know this could be done from the notes abbp, but I find the MBraille method a little more efficient.
I could probably list a few more things, but you get the idea. All of this is personal preference, but for me, MBraille has been well worth the price.
One thing I also like about…
One thing I also like about MBraille is the alias system. I realize that BSI now supports text substitutions, but I enjoy being able to quickly alias my favorite emoji, for instance.
I also tend to use both typing methods, but prefer typing in the standalone MBraille app rather than their third party keyboard.
