Problem with Brailliant BI-40-X not entering braille correctly

When entering text in grade 2 braille, my Brailliant BI-40-x seems to just enter the first letter of the sign I put in, even though my input and output tables are both set to contracted braille. Even after disconnecting it, using different tables, such as RTFC, SYSTEM, etc, I still seem to be having the problem.
An example is if I do the TH sign to write: "this", after the space I simply have a letter T.
This is not the case when I read from the display, but typing is a no go.
I'd really appreciate any help.
