hi all, having seen my wife's airpods, i have some queries. firstly, when my wife's ipad is in range and you puts the airpods in it automatically is connected, yet when she wants to use them with her iphone, we have to manually select them, is this normal? she initially paired them with the iphone. second, if i buy a pair for myself, i assume i cannot use them with blindsquare? this is such a shame, since it seems the only way to interface with the menus with a bluetooth headset, is by uiing buttons and controls which obviously the airpods do not have. what other headphones apart from the bluez 2s which i did not really take to, are good quality? what about the powerbeats 3, or solo 3? thanks Will

Set double-tap to Play Pause for BlindSquare menu operation
I haven't done extensive testing, but if you set the AirPods double-tap action to play pause, this is the same as pressing the EarPods button once.
Sometimes the double-tap isn't reliably registered on the AirPods, so it can be a bit tricky to select the right menu option, but probably you could get pretty good at this.
I don't have an iPad but think I've read you need to manually select when changing a device. Sometimes removing both AirPods and replacing them will connect them to the device currently outputting audio, but this area is messier when Voiceover is running than it is for non Voiceover users.
Hope this is of some help. I'd try pairing your wife's AirPods to your iPhone and do some experimentation.

Auto switching
The auto switching of airpods only applies to the Apple watch. Even if the device that was last connected to the airpods is switched off, they will not connect to another iOS device automatically. However, you don't need to disconnect the airpods from one device to connect them to another paired iOS device.
As for blind square, the previous poster is correct that setting the double tap action to play/pause will allow the airpods to work with the audio menu of blind square, which I have done successfully.
Audio via Siri, Dictation, & Phone route to iPhone, not AirPods
I’ve AirPods paired to iPhone 8 and
I’ve experienced the audio via Siri, DIctation, and Phone to route to iPhone, not AirPods.
However, VoiceOver, and media (book, podcast, and music) route to AirPods.
I’ve tried hard-reset, reset network settings, re-pairing AirPods..
THe expected functionality works for the first couple mins of a successful connection after toggling BLuetooth, device restart, etc.
Has anyone heard of this before and knows of a solution?
Re @kevinchao89
That's strange behaviour. Have you tried resetting the AirPods to factory settings? You do this by holding down the little button on the AirPods case for about 20 seconds. The AirPods should be in the case at the time. The button is almost flush with the case, you can find it on the back of the case, very near the bottom.
Persist even after reset to factory default
THis issue is still present after reset to factory default.
