My wife recently bought an Apple Watch Series 3. She also bought one of those third party magnetic straps.
My question: I have a wireless charging pad. Can she safely charge her Apple Watch on my charging pad? I was worried about inductive heating of the metal strap from the charging pad. I usually use the charging pad for my iPhone and Airpods, but it would be nice if she could use it also.

No issues
The round charger does not affect the ban. I also have a nice silver metal and have no issues charging it. The round charger goes under the watch and does not touch the ban.
Re: Wireless charging and metal band
My real question is charging the Apple watch with one of those metal bands on a flat, wireless charging pad, not the charger that comes with the watch.
When my wife and I travel I thought we might be able to minimize the number of chargers and plug-in devices we take by just using my flat wireless charging pad to charge both my phone and her watch. But I was worried about how the metal band would interact with the charger.

As far as I know, the Apple
As far as I know, the Apple watch uses a special charging puck that comes supplied with the watch in the box. It sits under the body of the watch and does not touch the band at all. QI wireless charging mats cannot transfer power to the watch, as far as I'm aware. There are, however, wireless charging mats with a section built for the Apple watch, but they are very bulky.
Charging
Hi Peter,
The watch won’t charge on a single wireless pad. As stated above, the watch uses a proprietary puck charging.
They make dual and trio wireless pads that charge phone, watch and AirPods. Make sure it clearly states watch charging. HTH
