Blind friendly scanners

Hello everyone I have a problem. I am having a hard time finding a scanner that is easy to use with jaws to read my printed documents. I intend in the future to switch from windows to a mac but I need a scanner that will work with both types of computers.
A lot of scanners that I have researched only work with one or the other so I was wondering if there could possibly be a scanner that can work with both. When I eventually do find a scanner can I use jaws or vo to make the scanner talk and how. What is the software that comes with the scanner for?
If anyone has any ideas please let me know. I would really appreciate it. Thanks a bunch.

Hi. First off, I have a mac, but have not bought a scanner, for the reasons you've talked about. I'm not anti this or that, saying one is superior. But because I used k1000 on windows, I didn'tknow what to buy for the mac. There's something, for fifty bucks, caled ABBY fine Reader express. Somone has posted aobu tit in the mac app directory. But I've also heard of docuscan plus, and if memory serves, which it probably won't, I believe the price tag for that is around $300 All the scanner software will do is tell the computer how to work withit, and it might be benificial for sighted people to scan photos and the like into programs. having said all of this, it's been years since I installed a scanner, so much so that the software was so difficult, my VI peron took the scanner software home saying, "You'll never ever need to install this again." She was wrong. ;) good luck and i'll be interested to hear what others have to say.
