Hello everyone. Subject line pretty much sums it up. I've recently been getting an error on my MyPassport external hard drive which is a Western Digital. I can play things from my iTunes library just fine, but it seems that whenever I leave the drive plugged in and then come back here after doing something else VoiceOver says "error on rate configuration." I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if so, what did you do to make the error go away? I've also been doing backups using the external drive and Time Machine, and they seem to be successful. Tia for anybody's assistance here.

I have a my passport drive and
I use mine for backups, but I hadn't heard of this problem. You could try erasing the drive with the drive utilities app, that or try running the system checkup and scans found in drive utility app for wdc products. hth and good luck

Thanks for your reply. Just this morning I connected the drive to my Mac and as I was looking around, I saw something about registration. I never even thought to do this a couple years ago when I first got the drive, nor did I think to ask for sighted help to do so. So I just went ahead and registered it, and the process was quick and totally accessible with VoiceOver. I then checked my email and sure enough, got a registration confirmation from the company. I guess I thought that perhaps if the drive did in fact need to be registered, Best Buy would've taken care of that. But oh well.
