Third-party trackpad for Trackpad commander?

Hi, I use an M1 Mac Mini, and having a bluetooth keyboard available for when I'm moving around at my workspace is really handy, and I'm wondering if I could add a trackpad from a company like Logitech to use the trackpad commander. Is this possible, or is the official Magic Trackpad required? If you can use anything, are there any trackpads/trakcpad-keyboard combos you recommend?
Thanks for any help.

the one from apple costs only $129, and it's guaranteed to work. i have one here, and it's very nice. comparing to the $19 polishing cloth, tthe trackpad has great value by comparison.
