I have the USBC airpods pro second generation, and if you put them in transparency mode, they make excellent back-up hearing aids. My hearing aids were out of commission for a couple of weeks, and I used the Airpods as a substitute. They got the job done, at least for my purposes. Of course, they're nowhere near as comfortable, and battery life isn't so great compaired to regular hearing aids, but especially if your audiologist can supply you with your audiogram, or even enter that info into your phone for you, I can highly recommend using airpods as hearing aids, at least for short term. They probably won't be quite as good quality as real hearing aids, but at least for my situation, I was extremely satisfied.

thanks so much for ur reply,
but may i ask, for what level do u have hearing loss?

If memory serves, I have approximately 35 percent hearing loss in my right ear and 70 percent in the left. I have Phonak Naida hearing aids. As for the audio gram, my audiologist entered the info for me, but I think that if you have your audio gram itself in an accessible format, entering it should be accessible.

I think my (sighted) wife was able to take a picture of her audiogram and have it automatically imported into the app.

I took advantage of the switch to USB-C to buy a second pair of AirPods Pro 2, which means I now have two pairs of them. They have become de facto hearing aids for me (moderate to severe loss in the upper frequencies). You just put them in transparency mode, crank up the amplification in headphone accommodations, and boom, auditory augmentation. Switch them out when the batteries die in one pair for the other; the case will recharge one pair well before you use it again and the other pair runs down completely. If I could get a new USB-C battery pack, I'd buy a second case for my old AirPods Pro, and fast charge everything from a USB-C cable; as it is, I have to shuffle things around from time to time so I can charge from the correct cable at max speed, or charge more slowly on the battery pack, but yes, it does indeed work just as you'd imagine. Kind of crazy, if you think about it. And great value, for what you get. The only downside is this tendency for headphone accommodations transparency settings to be disabled spontaneously, for no readily apparent reason. I don't know why, but it's annoying as sin. But when it happens and you spot it, turn accommodations back on, and it will keep working as long as the AirPods are in your ears.

just 2 questions about audio gram:
1- when i recorded my audio gram in apple/health app, will it has good effect on Iphone speakers without airbods? or i should ware them?
2- can i record more than 1 audio gram? i need to use them for my history, but will apple understand and use the latest one?

I'm using the Apple AirPod Pro 3rd Generation like a hearing aid and I also listen to music and books. To get the best sound quality as a hearing aid I put it into Transparancy mode and if I need to hear someone better in a noisy environment I switch it to Conversation mode. I also placed the Hearing button in the Control Pannel so that when I do a swipe up the Control Pannel show the Hearing button where I can do adjustments. If you need more info, post a follow-up here.

thanks but do you have a physical hearing aid as well? or just this AirPod?
this is a question for all, do you have time to use both Headphones? am afraid that may be after purchasing i do not use them

I have a slight hearing loss and when I took a hearing test and took the results to the program that is in charged of the ICAN Connect through the Perkins School, I did not meet the qualification for that program. My first hearing aid was purchased out of pocket from Costco and they worked fine but didn't have the quality I was looking for compared to using the AirPod Pro.

last step before purchasing,
what about using Airpods3 instead? more cheaper, but can i upload my audio gram on it? and will it have same results?

I have the AIr Pods 3. As far as I am aware, they don’t have background/transparency modes or anything like that. Or if they do I’ve not found out where. So I would imagine that the Air Pods Pro 2 are a much better bet as a hearing aid. But I might be talking rubbish as this isn’t something I know a huge amount about.

One other thing about the Air Pods 3 is that I personally find they aren’t very comfortable if I wear them for over an hour or so. I think the Pro models have different adapters to suit different ears so I’m guessing are more comfortable. I’ve never seen one so am not entirely sure how this works. But of course your experience may well vary.

I’d also personally never wear my Air Pods 3 if walking out and about as I wouldn’t trust them from falling out of my ears. Not sure if I’d feel any differently about the Pros. Maybe I’m just paranoid.
