Hi everyone,
I’ve always preferred reading with my braille display instead of listening to VoiceOver speech, but I’ve run into a problem that’s become more noticeable as more developers use Unity for their iOS games.
Unity’s accessibility plug-in has been great for opening doors to accessible gaming, but it comes with one big drawback for those of us who prefer braille. These Unity-based games usually require direct touch gestures like swiping and double tapping on the screen. My braille display will show what VoiceOver is reading, but I can’t actually navigate or activate anything directly from the display.
For someone who relies on braille rather than speech, this makes playing much slower and less enjoyable. I’m wondering if anyone here has found a workaround for this, or knows of a setting or technique that might help braille users interact with Unity apps more smoothly.
Thanks in advance for any ideas or tips!
