Does anyone have any ideas for some fun games for kids. My child is 8 and in second grade and wants to play games on a tablet like her peers. It would be great if there were some educational games too.

Hi Jessica,

My name is André Filipe Silva and I was born in the USA. However, I come from a Portuguese background.
I would like to ask you some questions. What does your child like to play? What type of games does she like to play? Does she like word, Trivia, logic or puzzle games or is she more into action games, audio-based games, shooting games, etc, or not? Without this very importante piece of information, I can't give you any suggestions for games.
Does this sound helpful or not?
Take care,
André

Hello André,

Thank you so much for responding to my question!

I neglected to mention that Emma is totally blind. She tends to enjoy word trivia, hangman, math games ect. but she also would like to play some of the other games. I don't think they are really allowed to play "shooting" games at school so if it's not too much of a problem a list of both would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance,
Jessica Brown

Hi Jessica,

Does Emma like to play puzzle games? If so, I'd recommend Stem Stumper and Robo-E. If she is into racing games, I'd recommend Blindfold Racer and Audio Speed. I hope this helps!
Take care,
André

Hi Andre,

Anything helps... Emma hasn't had any games that are accessible to her in the classroom. She has to have her sighted peers help her play games on the computer so she is not real interested in the computer. Not okay with me...

Thank you for your time and ideas,
Jessica

Hi Jessica,

If Emma is more into word games, I'd recommend the following games:
SpellStack
iAssociate 2
Moxie
Moxie 2
94 Seconds
7 Little Words
This list isn't complete, but I hope it helps you out.
If she's into Trivia games, I'd recommend the following games:
Millionaire Quis free
Trivia Crack Kingdoms
FunBlast Trivia fre
I hope these two lists help you out.
Cheers,
André

I can recommend a lot of the Blindfold series of games from Kidfriendly Software. The first game I ever got into as a kid was Simon. Perhaps "Blindfold Simon" may be an excellent starting point. Hth.

Hi Jessica,

As the other kids are playing with computer games in the classroom, keep in mind the school has a legal obligation to provide an equivalent experience, but its implementation is ultimately dependent on what is written in Emma's IEP.

Good luck.

Thank you everyone! I will pass this along. Emma is not a tech freak like most kids so anything helps especially if they are fun games. At school her 4th grade classmates (and her) have the option to take Ipads home for "enrichment", which means they have apps to play educational games and learn how to use the Ipad. My hopes are to have some available for Emma's use also. Thank you again!
