Hi folks,
I'm the developer of "World Order — The Game", a simulation game that has been listed on here on AppleVis.com for a few years now. I first developed this game as a personal project during the pandemic and had no intentions of it gaining any popularity. I wasn't initially aware the value it could bring to gamers with limited vision. After having not made any updates to the game in over a year, I've recently started updating the game again, particularly with a focus on making sure that it works well with screen readers like VoiceOver. In the versions v1.2.11+, I've put in a lot of fixes to the game, including having the screen reader functionality behave better, though there's still more work to do. I've been playing with VoiceOver more to try to really understand the experience, however I could use some help improving it and making it even better. I really appreciate the feedback I've received from this community in the past, and I would love to get more feedback on the recent versions to see if things have improved, and how I can improve it even more. I'm a solo developer on the project, so I appreciate any feedback you can give me.
If you're willing to try the latest version of game and give me feedback, I'd be more than happy to credit your in-game account with free gold so you can try everything out without paying. All I ask in return is valuable feedback so I can make this game the best it can be for people using a screen reader.
If this sounds interesting to you, feel free to reply here or shoot an email at info [at] hermetic ventures [dot] com.
Thanks so much!

Thank you!

Re:Request for feedback on accessible game development
Zorba,thank you so very much! This next week is going to be 1 of those, if you understand me. After Easter, though,I should have a bit more time to have a look. If that time delay is ok w/you, then please instruct me as to what you wish me to do & I'll gladly help. Again, thanks for doing this! There aren't a lot of developers who think of us--most people don't think blind folks can even use a computer, for corn sakes. So your efforts are most appreciated. Maybe someone can think about considering this game for a golden apple or similar this upcoming round?
After the holidays please
Hi there, I too am interested in this, however I will not have free time until after the Easter holiday. I did however report on a couple of potential bugs with VoiceOver on the official World Order AppleVis entry.
@AbleTec — I totally…
@AbleTec — I totally understand! There's a lot going on this month and we've all got our day-to-day to attend to, so I appreciate any time you can provide — no worries about the delay! It's more important to me that I get this right, no matter how long it takes. I've worked with many development teams throughout Silicon Valley, and yes, unfortunately accessibility is not something that comes up a lot — even less in the game development community. I too was negligent at a point. But once I videos of people playing my game with VoiceOver and learning more about screen readers — I realized it would be an incredible disservice to my fellow gamers out there to not at least do my best to get it working as best as I can. I want as many people to be able to enjoy this game as possible, so this is part of the mission. I feel bad that it has been so buggy for so long, so I appreciate how patient this community has been with me as I learn!
So once again, thank you! If you're interested in getting on the TestFlight beta access, just drop me your Apple ID email, or email me at info [at] hermeticventures [dot] com.
