Another app I have used frequently on the iPad Mini is Rev Voice Recorder. You can read about it here: http://www.rev.com/voicerecorder
The app is free but is primarily meant for people who would like to have their recordings transcribed professionally. I have simply ignored this aspect of the app and use it for everything else. Do give it a try.
