Maybe jaws should consider having it for apple. How nice be if jaws would work also on iOS beside windows. Bugs would be fix ASAP. No more VO issues with bugs taking a century to be fix.

it would be cool to have Neo Speech.

I want to here different celebrity voices.

If your talking about the jaws voice that's a possibility. But if your talking about the screen reader jaws for ios... that's highly unlikely. People tried to talk freedom scientific about releasing it for mac, but they where laughed off. Furthermore, we're talking that you'd had to pay god knows how much money to have access to jaws on ios and on mac... no thanks, its not worth it.

Perhaps but jaws address bugs quickly. If is about making money, they will do it. Is all about the money and jaws is for it.

Acapela would be nice. i have a feeling they're not going to sound right though. It would be nice to have Sharon as a default voice rather than samanya, like on my letterlNote, because it sounds better than Samantha. Another one I like is Lily. Even the non-premium is awesome. And the child voices, are good too; nothing like Junior!

Well, we already have eSpeak, currently in beta. you can use the voices with VoiceOver. for me, I'm using the US Max voice and it's much more simpler to understand, especially at faster speeds. plus, unlike eloquence, it's in more higher quality. I used to use the eSpeak synthesizer when I had NVDA on my former windows computer, but was using the UK English version of Max. then, as time whent on, I switched to the US version of Max, and it sounds amazing. and yes, their are bugs, but I'm sure they will be fixed with the next beta build. overall, eSpeak is awesome. everyone has different voice options, but it all depends on personal preference. some prefer Eloquence, others prefer eSpeak, Etc.

I contacted Acapela and they have no plans to make their TTS/voices available on iOS unfortunately.

By Ekaj on Thursday, November 3, 2022 - 06:03

I used eSpeak with NVDA many moons ago and it was very good. I'm used to the robotic nature of a lot of these voices, so that doesn't bother me in the least. I can't wait to get eSpeak on my new iPhone once I upgrade, and once the TTS becomes available to the public at large. I was able to download Evan for use with VoiceOver and am currently using him. He sounds very good.

yeah I hope it can have some new third party voices for voice over

By Levi Gobin on Saturday, December 3, 2022 - 06:03

well what new speech synths do you think will be released?
I want more voices for VoiceOver. I don't care what they are, but I would love to have more voices.
I would love to see DECTalk, maybe soft voice, and a few others.
I do agree with most people that the more robotic voices are good to have. I also would like more natural voices, like some of the voices found on amazon echo devices. Some of those voices are really natural and would be really cool to have on iOS.

does anyone know that it has any new speech will be released soon?

By roman on Monday, April 3, 2023 - 06:03

I am looking forward to more options when it comes to new text to speeches because I am tired of the vocaliser voices.

Hope we can get other main stream voices.

I am happy though that we have the eloquence text to speech but more would bee welcome.

Hello everybody.
I myself am not a big fan of pretty much any vocalizer voices in iOS 16, watchOS 9, or macOS Ventura. they were better in older operating systems like iOS 15, macOS Monterey, or watchOS 8 and older.
I’ve tried Alex, but I’ve been using Alex for over 10 years and I’m ready for something else. espeak lags and it has weird Issues with the voice especially when reading sentences. Right now I am using Siri voices for voiceover, but something else must be done.
Right now, if Steve Jobs were to see what’s going on with apple and Voice over, I bet you $1 million he wouldn’t like it.
Come on apple! Step up your game and fix your VO bugs, or I am switching to (unreleased, not even in beta testing, just a thought) jaws for iOS!
I’ve already heard jaws for android is a thing, so I wouldn’t be surprised. It would actually be nice to be able to use picture smart on iOS, OCR on iOS, (come on apple add that) as well as many other jaws exclusive features.
For example, there has been an issue where voiceover sounds are laggy and don’t work right when you connect to external accessories. Guess how long this bug has been going on since?
No, not iOS 16.1, no, not iOS 16.2, but iOS 16.0, beta four! That’s been over like a year ago, at least that’s what it feels like.(After looking it up, beta four came out at the end of July 2022, and it’s been nine months since they broke the sounds. If Apple doesn’t fix these issues in iOS 17, I’m going to write to freedom scientific and ask them to make jaws for iOS.) I have reported it to Apple, a long time ago, and they have not done a single thing about it. I highly doubt they’re going to fix the eloquence issue that I pointed out to them in beta four of 16.4. Every update, I always ask myself, “did apple fix the issues? Did they? And the answer is always a big fat no!
I’m honestly fed up with what Apple has been doing lately. Us as blind people deserve better. In fact, if someone were to somehow import voiceover from iOS 6 into iOS 16, yes it would have less features, but it would probably be less laggy than modern voiceover. Right now the only reason I beta test is to see if Apple even cares about accesibility as much as They care about releasing Apple Music classical? How about instead of releasing apps that you could release at WWDC, you focus on your voice over bugs you introduced with a very early beta of iOS 16 and you still not even fixed.
This is 16.4! These issues should be resolved! By iOS 15.4, I had no if not very very little minor voiceover issues. Even iOS 16.3.1, yes, it’s not that laggy when not connected to external accessories, but it still has its fair share of issues, and 16.4 is even worse. Yes it’s a beta, but still. I’m honestly mad at Apple.

Sorry for the long rant, but I just need to say my two cents about what Apple is doing.
back to the initial topic, if you guys do know of any other VoiceOver speech synthesizer’s besides eloquence and the built-in ones, please let me know.
Thanks.
As a final note, apparently jobs for android is not available unless it’s used for android kiosk platforms. More information can be found at https://www.tpgi.com/tpgi-announces-release-jaws-for-kiosk-android/

Congratulations! according to our chat gptt 8.0 powered system, you are the only person in the world that would preffer a kind of jaws for iOS. We never expected to live that long¡
Whatever, I have only menor complains. Apple is still one of the big one tech companies pushing accessibility boundaries farther every year, and I really don't cannot share your opinion, just because there is a certain bug that causes you issues.
However, please, don't wait any longer! send that email to freedoms scientific and share it with us, we can have a fun time (hello there! since Apple is horrible, dear sir Freedom mcSccientific, make iOS great again by releasing jaws for iOS! nobody will expect that move!!).

By Igna Triay on Monday, April 3, 2023 - 06:03

Agree with Alan here. Look, that voiceover has bugs is not to be denied, its a fact, but as i've scid, all software has bugs... but jaws on ios or mac os? That's not going to happen. I mean freedom scientific wouldn't waste time and money to do this, for one, and for another... Would you seriously want to pay $90 per year only to have access to your phone? And that's of course if your in the US, UkK, and Believe Canada. Otherwise its over $1000 not counting upgrades per year... although apple would probably force them to at least lower their price do to it beeing on the appstore but still. Its not worth it.
Regarding elequence, at least to my ears it sounds fine, it sounds the same as the one made by code factory which is the one i'm used to given I don't use jaws, but that's me.
Also, if your that unsatisfied with voiceover... no one is forcing you to use it, just switch. It's that simple. Or keep reporting bugs to apple, but if you just rant and you don't report what's wrong / how it can be fixed, nothing will get done.

I guess several people misunderstood my thoughts on jaws for iOS. Yes it would be cool to have. I know it’s not going to be released but I was basically just trying to say that if it was I would consider using it. I’m holding out till iOS 17 before I do anything crazy.
I have officially registered for the apple Developer program! Do you know where I can find documentation for the AV speech Synthesizer? I want to see what I can do.
