Hi everyone,
I'm writing here because I'm having a strange issue with WhatsApp notifications on my iPhone. I'm hoping someone here might have some insight or suggestions on how to fix it.
The issue I'm having is that whilst WhatsApp is active, I'm not receiving any sound or vibration notifications for WhatsApp messages when I have the alert style set to 'none', despite having explicitly turned on both sound and vibration notifications. This only occurs within the app itself; when my phone is inactive, I receive both sound and vibration notifications as expected.
I've already tried the following troubleshooting steps that WhatsApp support suggested:
- Restarting my phone
- Ensuring I have the latest version of WhatsApp installed
- Checking my internet connection
- Trying airplane mode on and off
- Upgrading to the latest iOS version
But none of these solutions have worked for me. I've also tried restoring my phone as suggested by WhatsApp support, but that hasn't resolved the issue either.
I'm really hoping someone here might be able to offer some suggestions or help me figure out what's going on. It's frustrating not being able to receive notifications within the app without being distracted by the visual alerts, which interrupts VoiceOver.
Thanks in advance for any help or advice you can offer!

Unfortunately. This problem has been around for a long time. There is no solution for it at the moment.
Not a New Bug.
That's a long standing bug in the app, unfortunately. I've had that problem literally for the last couple years.
