Hey, hi hello again. I kind of talked bout this briefly some time back but I think it's kind of, at least time to give this topic yet another spin. Ever cense oh I don't know when it started happening, let's just say a few major versions of IOS, I'm thinking round 17.4 or so, voiceover with images has been lacking as of late. First of all, when looking through photos, ya can't swipe, only do explore by touch and that's indeed annoying as you kind of have to figure out the location f each image and or video and sometimes gets a we tad difficult. further more, I have apps that have images that you gotta click on and unless you know what you're looking for, you miss a lot of stuff when you just swiping through. In a word, voiceover only detects images when doing explore by touch and not flicking through. What's going on here and has anyone else reported this besides me? I would so love apple to get this fixed. Yet another long standing bug that apple may or may not fix. Just to let yall know, swiping through graphics / images use to work, what gives! I swear! I don't even like going through photos / videos because of this! Please tell me I'm not the only one who's frustrated about this. Just me? Okay. I've talked to a few other people bout this and they having the same issue but that's as far as I got with this topic.

Hi Jonathan,
By default, in VoiceOver's settings, I've got the 'navigate images' option set to 'always', and when I went into my photos app just now and tried navigating through my photo library, I could swipe through everything no problem. However, when I changed the 'navigate images' option to 'never' and went back into my photos app, I had to explore by touch exactly like you're describing to find all my photos. In fact there wasn't a single photo available on the screen by swiping, I had to explore by touch. Have you checked your settings? What option is selected under the 'navigate images' option? Because if 'never' is selected, that might be why you're having this issue. I always keep it set to 'always', just in case I need some random image for something, maybe it's a button that VoiceOver recognises as an image or something.

Oh, that's a good one if that's it, Tara. I've been reading about people having this issue for a time now, and I just assumed it was the thing about only a few Apple devices having crazy behavior, when everyone else's work fine. I think Ollie had this issue too, if someone could tell him to check.

Okay, I feel dumb! That was precisely it! Now I feel bad for raising such a ruckus. My apologies. Tried what you described and now I can swipe through them just fine. That's gotta be the most overlooked feature I've come across. Strange because I don't recall turning that feature off, but then again if phone updates and apple changes settings with out people's consent that could be why I was thinking that this has been a bug for the longest time. Thanks loads, that helped lots!

Hi again Jonathan,
Yes, I think over time lots of things get changed either by us or maybe Apple? Not cool if they're turning things off and on, but who knows? Sometimes I change things and then don't remember what I've done. I must say, I really didn't think that the 'navigate images' option would affect photos in your library but wow. At first I thought it was a bug, and then I remembered that feature so thought I'd try it.
