Hello,
I am uncertain where to place this topic, so please feel free to relocate it if I have placed it in the incorrect location.
As of last Thursday, I have created a TikTok account and have now posted three videos.
I am seeking advice on how to avoid having Voiceover speak over me during recording and also, which video editing software is the most suitable for someone like me who is new to video editing: iMovie or Final Cut Pro.
I currently use REAPER on my PC for this purpose, but I am also seeking a mobile-friendly option that I can use while on the go.
This mobile option should be accessible with Voiceover and budget-friendly.

Start with iMovie.
First, I'm not sure if Final Cut Pro will run on a phone. Assuming there's a mobile version, it might be like Logic, which only runs on iPad. Second, FCP is definitely not budget friendly. I don't know what it would be for mobile, but on Mac it's like $200. It's probably a lot cheaper on mobile, but still.
There doesn't appear to be Final Cut Pro for mobile, there's something called Final Cut Camera, but the blurb on the app store mentions multiple camera setups. I wouldn't just ignore it, but probably more than you need, right at first. Also just because I looked apparently FCP is $350 for Mac, so yeah. I thought it would be around the same price as Logic, but i guess not.
Oh yeah, to add some stuff I forgot:
If you don't want VO to speak, you've got a couple of options.
1. Headphones without a microphone. You'll hear it if it speaks, nobody else will.
2. Turn off VO just before hitting record. If you're lucky the same button stops as well and it will stay on that button.
3. If you can make sure VO doesn't speak during the video, just start it, leave a bit of space, do whatever you're doing for your video, leave some space at the end, and stop it. The spaces are, obviously, to leave room so you can cut off that extra stuff in editing.
I should add that a lot of video people seem to have a remote control of some sort to stop and start their videos. That won't help with VO speaking during the videos but it should help you start and stop them cleanly.
I had trouble with iMovie
Hi,
I've used iMovie before with issue, but newer versions have changed the layout & now, I can't figure it out.
Final cut pro is subscription-based on iPad & is an iPad exclusive app.
Your devie must have an m1 chip or newer to run the creative media apps, like Final cut & Logic.
As far as cost for Final cut, you can either pay $4.99/month or $49.99 annually.
If I like it, I may eventually purchase the mac version, which is a onetime cost of $299.
