Carot Weather rain alerts not working

Hi all,
I have recently signed up to carot weather and I find it very accessible.
However the rain alerts aren't coming through it's set to time senertive and any amount all location settings are on etc.
I am still in trial mode is this why the rain alerts don't work even though I get the daily summaries etc.
I have equally tried enabling live acctivies but found that this blocks off other voice over notifications from being read.
Any suggestions
