Clock problems on iOS 6.01 and iPhone 4S

By Jayson Smith, 3 January, 2013

My dad is having this problem. I haven't had it, but I don't use the alarm and timer near as much as he does. When an alarm or timer goes off on his phone, many times he doesn't get the "Slide to Stop Alarm" or "Slide to Stop Timer" controls. Also, many times, alarms don't snooze when he tells them to. Deleting and resetting the alarms fixes the problem for a day or two, but then the problem comes back. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Thanks!

Never experienced this here

Hi, I use timer and alarms all the time, and always get the appropriate snooze controls and am able to stop them with a slide gesture. I can't imagine what would be causing someone not to see them. It could be some rare hard-to-trigger bug, of course, but that seems rather unlikely.

Snooze control

When you create an alarm, don't they give you an option to enable Snooze or not? I think they do, but I can't check my phone right now to be sure. Maybe he needs to check to make sure that option is available and that if he wants Snooze that it is checked. I have no idea if this will help, but it's all I can think of.

We just experienced the problem

He's already checked the snooze option. Tonight while cooking dinner, we had reason to set a timer on his phone twice, each time for eight minutes. Both timers were set using Siri. When the first one expired, it said "Timer done" and had an OK button. It didn't give the VO alert sound and give the time like it normally should. The second timer worked perfectly. It played the VO alert sound, gave the time, and had a "Slide to stop timer" control. Whatever the problem is, it seems to be inconsistent, and anyone will tell you those are the hardest problems to track down.

He could try one of the reset

He could try one of the reset Methods on his phone. This problem could be a glitch that may easily be eradicated. (At Least, I hope so.) Good luck with everything.

Lock screen

Hi, Your mention of the alert with the okay button has given me the clue to answer at least one question. The reason for inconsistent behavior is that your phone only displays the "slide to stop timer," control when the timer finishes while the phone is locked. If the phone is unlocked, the timer simply displays an alert dialog, with an okay button. The same holds true for alarms I believe. I would consider checking the autolock settings, and being sure they are set as you prefer them.
