Dictation Broken Across entire IOS7.1 Platform

Hello I devic users. I have an Iphone 5 with 7.1 installed. Yesterday, dictation completely broke down with no rhyme or reason as to why. Do I do a soft reset, a hard reset, or do I have to take the phone to the apple store and have them do some tricks to make it work? I tried powering down the phone and turning it back on to no avail. Thanks in advance for any assistance offered. Eddie

Eddie - Dictation requires an Internet connection. Make sure that you haven't accidentally turned on "Airplane Mode" in Settings or turned off your cell and/or WiFi connection, also in Settings.

I would also try turning off and then back on siri to see if tha fixes it. I remember I had to do this a few times when iOS 7.0 was released to the public.

I agree with what the last poster said. Also, if siri doesn't respond, tap the listen button again and ask it the same question.

I have tried all these solutions, but nothing works. Am I going to have to back up to I tunes and restore the phone to factory default settings? Also to be clear, absolutely no voice feedback is registered, whether it be siri or dictating a text or trying to open an app.

Hi. Have you allowed dictationt o use your microphone? i know iwth audio apps it aks, are you wanting me to use this? I'm sure you've tried it, but every answer helps. If it doesn't work, then I'd suggest yes, a backup then resotre maybe from a backup before yesterday? Good luck.

Since I use my iPhone in Spanich and in English, I have both languages set in the keyboard. Some times I try dictating things, and if I have the keyboard set in the wrong language, I just get a lot of garbage in the screen.

Oh yeah that happened to a friend of mine. It put instead of the spanish for hello how are you, something like she has purple feet came out in the text field. so yeah check that and see if that does anything, the language thing anyways.
