So shortly after updating my iPhone 14 to the latest build of iOS 26 my faceID completely stopped working even after multiple reboots. S successfully managed to disable faceID to reset it but it just doesn't scan my face at all on step 1 and I'm stuck on that screen.
I see conflicting but similar reports on the web about that, anybody here having the same?
It's a major efficiency loss, but fortunately I'm very fast with braille screen input so can survive. I really hope it's not my hardware. I have apple care but still, the likelyhood that Apple doesn't extort me instead of properly repairing the sensor doesn't seem to be very high if stories on the web are real.
I've obviously tried this first and can confirm that my front facing camera is working well, at least in the camera app VO still detects my face and its position as usual.
Other issues I have are
Is it just me or they did something to braille screen input and the recognition of finger --> dots got worse than on iOS 18? IE I seem to do more mistakes than before after many recalibrations.
Safari sometimes crashes, for me whenever I press on the tab button. VO doesn't detect anything for a few long seconds and in the app switcher the app is sometimes idle so now I manually reboot it. It happens several times a day.
Battery drains faast.
I think that's it :)

Sure it is failing
Bit late now as you started again but I commented somewhere else that all Face Id feedback had vanished but was still working. Basically, I had no idea it was working until it failed and I had to try logging in again. Interestingly, and related there also now seems to be an issue regarding MS authenticator. My work had set this so that I had to loging to mail once a week and before they had configured it to give me a 2 digit code that I used in the MS authenticator app. Today after being off work for 2 wweeks I had to change my code and normally as part of Face id VO would read out the 2 digit code. However, no code today I had to flick around to find out what number I should use. So seems to relate to Face id I think.
Likely hardware
Haven't experienced problems with face id whatsoever myself.
@Lee
I remember posting this somewhere else but I was between two networks so I thought it had not been posted. I can't find my post now though if that's what you're talking about.
