How to properly navigate text on an Ipad or Iphone
Hello everyone. The most recent "why get an Ipad?" topic prompted me to ask this question:
I am a writer and I would like to use my Ipad Pro and/or Iphone 6S Plus to work on my writing while out and about. Since I primarily use Microsoft Word on a PC I need to be able to seamlessly transfer documents between the two devices. That part's easy. My question is in regards to the actual text editing - particularly navigation.
I work with Large documents usually divided into Chapters and sometimes sub chapters marked using heading. First of all, is there a way using any text editor to jump easily between headings in a list? I think Voice Dream Writer does this, but you can't import .docx formats even though you can export them.
Secondly, when in read view I can easily jump around a document's page either using my finger to read the lines or by using the line navigation router option. But when I find the line I want and double tap to enter edit view, it moves me back up to the top of the page. Then the only thing I can do is navigate by line until I find the right area which is just tedius. It's only slightly easier on a Bluetooth keyboard where you can sort of navigate by paragraph ... except when it skips paragraphs or ignores them entirely.
It seems like in this day and age of IOS being what it is that text editing would be more intuitive than it appears. That's why I'm hoping it's me. I primarily use Microsoft Word for IOS, but I also use Pages. Both apps have the same problem. I'd really love to get this figured out. I use both a Bluetooth Keyboard sometimes and Braille Screen input.
“I want and double tap to enter edit view, it moves me back up to the top of the page.”
double tap the same spot twice should move the insertion point there. to ensure you tap the same spot, use split tap. hold one finger at the point you want to cursor to go, then do two consecutive split taps with other finger.
